Dear friends and neighbors,
Our normally bustling buildings are eerily quiet these days, but inside, our staff and a few phenomenal volunteers are super busy serving our community — just in some new ways.
Here’s the latest at Goodman:
- We’re calling our older adults daily: We are reaching out to our regular older adult participants daily to keep connected with them and generally check on their needs.
- We’re delivering meals to our neighbors: Starting this Thursday, March 19, we will begin a daily meal delivery service of 100 dinners per day to children in the Darbo-Worthington and Brentwood neighborhoods.
- Our drive-thru food pantry will continue: We had our first one today, and it will be open Tuesday mornings, Wednesday early evening and Thursday mid-day. See specific hours here.
- We’ve had to close our educational programming: Based on Dane County and City of Madison guidelines, we have had to cease our on-site educational programming for children and teens.
- We’re reaching out to our families with kids in our programs: Our staff is reaching out to any participant family who may need resources, and is starting to donate our classroom games, crafts, and other educational tools. They want to ensure our families have the resources and connections they need at this time.
- Our buildings are closed to the public and we’re honoring social distancing as we clean and sanitize our facilities, and prepare meals and bags of groceries for neighbors.
It feels great to be able to
do SOMETHING to help
, doesn’t it?!
Thanks to everyone who has already helped.
If you made a gift
to help offset the costs of providing Coronavirus relief to our neighbors,
THANK YOU.
We’re always grateful for your gifts, but right now
we’re especially thankful
because many of
our normal funding streams have stopped flowing.
People have been giving what they can — $5 to $1,000
. And
we’re touched by each and every gift
because everyone is giving to their neighbors before they even know how this will affect their own situation. They’ve given us hope when it feels in short supply.
We’re in this for the long haul.
If you can help with a gift, please give whatever you can. Whenever you can.
Stay safe. *Consider yourself hugged.*
