Qi Gong Resumes
We are delighted to welcome our amazing Qi Gong instructor, Jian, back to the Library this fall. Qi Gong will take place on Tuesdays, beginning September 2, 10:00 -11:00 am.
Energy and gentle body movement improve energy and agility, reduce stress, increase concentration, reduce neck and back pain and rejuventate the body, mind and spirit. Drop in.

ESL Placement Test and Classes
Learn english as a Second Language at New Rochelle Public Library. The placement test for Beginner Classes takes place on Thursday, September 4, 9:00 am. Online intermediate classes are also available.
Classes are offered through SUNY Westchester English Language Institute. You must call 914-606-5656 to register and pay for the class ($35)

English Learner Conversation Circle Continues!
Join us on Thursdays, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm for this volunteer-led, drop-in weekly program offering English language learners the opportunity to practice their conversational English in a relaxed, fun way. Well-Minded Movement Resumes
Struggling to stand tall or move with ease? Join us on Friday, September 5, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm in this gentle class, based on The Feldenkrais Method®, which uses slow, gentle mindful movements to improve posture, flexibility, and balance—without strain. Discover how your movement habits impact well-being and learn techniques to release tension, breathe easier, and feel more energized.
Space is limited. First come, first served. Please bring a towel, blanket, or garden pad to sit on. Open to all abilities.

Civics Class of Citizenship
Join us on Saturday, September 6, 1:00 pm for NPRL's Civics Class, designed help to prepare students for the U.S. citizenship or naturalization exam and interview. Instruction is provided in the areas of government, current events, test-taking strategies, and interview skills, that build confidence and familiarity of the interview process.

Thomas Paine: The Story of Common Sense presented by Tutti Bravi Productions
Thomas Paine: The Story of Common Sense, an original music drama written by John Taylor Thomas of New Rochelle, will be presented on Saturday, September 6, 2:00 pm and Sunday, September 7, 2:00 pm. The performance centers on the influential life of the political activist, philosopher, writer and patriot who lived out his later years on his farm in New Rochelle. Included in this spirited production, some of the historical figures who gave birth to our country are also brought to life.

The Creative Breath: Fiction Edition
Calling All Aspiring Novelists! Join our NRPL Writing Community.
Every November millions of writers strive to write approximately 50,000 words a month (1,667 words a day) to celebrate National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Aspiring novelists take this time to work on their novels without editing; they focus solely on their writing project.
In this five-session workshop, beginning on Monday, September 8, 6:00 pm, participants will set their own writing goal. Each week, class members will work through journaling their own goals, prompts, creative visualizations and meditations to finish a goal or a writing project.
Additional sessions take place on Mondays, 9/29, 10/20, 11/17 and 11/24, 6:00 pm

Mah Jongg Open Play: Fall Schedule
This fall, we will offer two opportunities for open play Mah Jongg - continues on Tuesday evenings, 5:45 - 7:45 pm and Thursdays, 1:00 - 3:00 pm. The next Tuesday evening session is September 9, 5:45 - 7:45 pm and the next Thursday afternoon session is September 11, 1:00 - 3:00 pm. Bring your skill, luck and fellow Mah Jongg enthusiasts. All welcome.
This program is for experienced players of all levels.

So many amazing programs planned at Main. Moms/dads/caregivers of very little ones - join us for Baby Rhyme Time on Mondays, 11:00 am, Baby Fingers, Tuesdays, 11:30 am (come early to park your stroller!), Bilingual Babies, Thursdays, 11:00 am - to name a few. For the slightly older kids we have Kiddie Music Concerts or Puppet shows, Wednesdays, 11:00 am, STEAM and Math programs, Thursdays, 4:30 - 5:30 pm, Yoga, Saturdays, 10:00 am and more!

A few highlights - At HCL Head Librarian Susan will lead Baby Rhyme Time on Mondays, 10:30 am and StoryArt on Wednesdays, 10:30 am. Nature Tales with Lavanya will be back on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 am - it only runs for seven weeks so be sure to stop by. Fan favorite Dawny Dew will be back at HCL on Tuesdays at 2:00 pm and Susie Sunshine on Thursday mornings at 10:30 am (did you know she was Dawny Dew's mom? Talent runs in that family).

Diaper Drive
We're excited to announce that New Rochelle Public Library is a drop-off site for the Diaper Drive for The Sharing Shelf's annual effort to collect diapers for nonprofits county-wide.
From September 2nd through September 23rd, you can help make a difference for local children in need.
According to the National Diaper Bank Network, 47% of families struggled with diaper needs in 2023, with 1 in 4 parents missing work or school – averaging 5 days a month because they didn’t have enough diapers for childcare.
We are seeking wipes and diapers in ALL sizes, but the most acute needs are sizes 4, 5, 6 and pull-ups for 2T/3T and above. We are also collecting diapers in adult sizes for special needs youth and teens.
