Shop Burleson this holiday season
Burleson has everything a shopper needs to complete their gift list. From big box stores to great boutiques in Old Town and everything in between, you are sure to find that perfect present. 

Remember to Shop Burleson on Black Friday, Nov. 25, Small Business Saturday, Nov. 26 and throughout the holiday season. 

City looks to fill open Board and Commission seats
The deadline to apply for an open board or commission seat is Nov. 28. 

There are open positions on the Planning & Zoning Commission, Animal Shelter Advisory Committee, Building Codes and Standards Board and the Old Town Development Standards Review Committee, more information about each position

City closures for Thanksgiving holiday weekend

Most non-emergency City facilities will remain closed the day after Thanksgiving, Fri. Nov. 25, exceptions are  Hidden Creek Golf Course, the Burleson Recreation Center (BRiCk) and the Recycling and Mulch Center. These facilities will be open normal hours

The animal shelter, library, senior activity center will be open Saturday, Nov. 26, along with Hidden Creek Golf Course, the BRiCk and the Recycling and Mulch Center. 
If you want to drop off your recycling, please stop by the Recycling and Mulch Center Center on Nov. 25 or Nov. 26. The center is located behind Fire Station #2. You must show proof of residence (water/trash bill from the City).

City prepares for annual Christmas celebration
Parade, Tree Lighting and Fireworks set for Dec. 3

The Burleson Rotary Club hosts the annual lighted Christmas parade followed by the City's tree lighting and fireworks show. The tree is outfitted with more than 10,000 lights, which will be turned on by Santa and his helpers. Singers and dancers entertain the crowd while Santa breaks away from the parade and makes his way to the City stage. Make sure to stay and watch the holiday fireworks.

Food and Blanket Drive:  Bring canned or dry goods and/or new blankets to the Christmas Parade of Lights. Rotarians and Mayor's Youth Council will be walking the parade picking up the donated items. Food collected will benefit Burleson Harvest House, Promises Community Ministries and PacMin of FUMC Burleson.

Mixed-use development headed to Old Town
The Burleson City Council at its meeting Monday, Nov. 14, approved an economic development incentive and performance agreement with Realty Capital Management, LLC for Depot on Main, a mixed use development, located on approximately five acres of land at the northwest corner of King and Main Street.

Concept plans for Depot on Main include a four-story Class A multifamily development with over 200 units.
Santa's Breakfast tickets on sale now
Only one week left to get your Santa's Breakfast tickets at pre-event prices! 
Pre-event tickets are $4 for children and $5 for adults. Day-of-event tickets are $5 for children and $7 for adults. Tickets are on sale now at the Burleson Recreation Center, 550 NW Summercrest Blvd.

1st Thursday Shop for a Cause 
5 - 8 p.m., Old Town Burleson
The boutiques and shops of Old Town are holding their doors open on the first Thursday of the month.  *10% of all sales at participating stores will be donated to Children's Advocacy Center of Johnson County. For more information

Santa's Breakfast
7 - 10:30 a.m., BRiCk, 550 NW Summercrest Blvd.
Join us for our annual breakfast with Santa. Guests will enjoy making holiday crafts, exploring Santa's workshop and of course, visiting Santa himself. Tickets on sale now at the BRiCk. For more information.

Thinking Outside the Christmas Box
10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Burleson Public Library, 248 SW Johnson Ave.  
Create ornaments with recycled or upcycled materials, there will be contest & prizes for most creative decorations. Participants can enjoy a cookie decorating station, story time, music, refreshments, scavenger hunt and door prizes. For more information.   

Christmas Parade, Tree Lighting & Fireworks
6 p.m., Old Town Burleson, corner of SW Johnson Avenue & W Ellison Street

Christmas Craft Fair
9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Senior Activity Center, 216 SW Johnson Ave. Join the Senior Activity Center for their holiday craft fair. Local vendors will be showcasing their sewn creations, art, jewelry and other handmade items. For more information

Christmas at Russell Farm
noon - 8 p.m., Russell Art Farm, 405 W. CR 714
The festivities include pictures (bring your own camera) with a donkey wearing antlers; cowboy poetry; checking out the Christmas trees decorated by community clubs and organizations; hay rides; handmade crafts for sale; and, tours of the historic Russell-Boren house as well as the Russell Farm Art Center gallery. Concessions include hot cocoa, cookies, coffee and ice cream.
