Meet our 2023 Shiver King & Queen, Brian Tomlin & Hanna Toft! Their love story began 15 years ago on the gas dock at Smuggler’s Cove. They soon found out that their love of the ocean, fishing, hunting and the local community would keep them together for eternity. They love SH so much, they “sealed the deal” and got married on the dock of Stone Harbor Yacht Club in 2016.
Both born and raised here in Cape May County, Hanna & Brian love to spend their free time together scuba diving & spearfishing, tuna fishing, deer & turkey hunting on their property and enjoying their bounty by a campfire, surrounded by family, their dog and chickens.
And if you have ever met Hanna, then you must know her pet, Bluff - a special-needs rooster. Because of Bluff’s cross-beak condition, he has to be hand fed, so Bluff goes everywhere Hanna goes, including on their boat, out in the ocean and in the back bays - AND, to the Stone Harbor Shiver!
Bluff also goes to school every day, where Hanna teaches Marine and Natural Sciences.
Brian works enforcing fish and wildlife regulations and patrolling our natural areas by boat and truck to help keep them clean, safe and accessible to all. Brian is a 4th generation Islander - part of The Scott Family Tree. - The Scotts owned Stone Harbor Lumber and were one of the first families to build a home in Stone Harbor.
Brian and Hanna both grew up playing & swimming on Stone Harbor beaches and crabbing, clamming and fishing in the back bays. They love going to The Point and local sand bars by boat to hang out with family and friends.
Brian and Hanna love being on and around the water so much, they have been participating in the Shiver for many years - because jumping in the ocean is a part of who they are! They always bring the fun, with great costumes & great energy, so we can’t wait to see what this year brings and we can't wait to celebrate them as our King & Queen!
