Shawndell Oliver Short Notice Meet and Greet
-Sorry about second email in one day! Hey, things come up and I want to let you know about them...

We just made a plan for Shawndell to come tomorrow and drop off a commission piece that she is doing for a customer. She is also dropping off 3 or 4 more pieces for us. So, I thought, why not use it as an opportunity for anyone interested to come in and meet this fabulous artist. She'll be here arund 10:30 and can probably only stay for an hour at most. Anything for an excuse: I'll have mimosas as well. So, come on down.

Tantaka, 54 x 54

Long Hot Summer, 48 x 60. Was too big for customer's space. ARRGGGGHHH. So, it is still available!

Lonely Prancer 48 x 60. Sold!

(Re) Introducing Shawndell Oliver

Update: My wife and I recently spent an evening with Shawndell and her very congenial husband Eric at their wonderful ranch-ish home in rural Arvada. OMG. It was such a privilege to see her studio and meet her chickens, horses, dogs, ducks, etc. and especially to see her incredible eclectic home decor, featuring a lot of our pieces of course mxed in with her paintings. She lives the life she paints. If you have any particular western subject matter-cattle, horses, cowboys (and girls), wolves, buffalo, etc. Let us know and I can send you photos of her available works.

Update # 2: I didn't realize what a great VALUE our Shawndell prices were until I perused this Jackson, WY gallery website.

Check it out. Our prices are about 1/3 what you would pay in a highfalutin gallery! And, you can take it on approval!

-------

We are pleased and proud to once again be working with acclaimed Colorado artist Shawndell Oliver, who's big, bold, colorful, and highly textured original paintings have adorned galleries in Aspen, Jackson Hole, Vail, and well beyond. Shawndell loves the west and is a bit of a cow-girl in real life. So, her pieces feature western icons-horses, cattle, buffalo, elk, etc. The style-her textured layering of bright and bold colors-though is perfectly suited to a wide variety of decorating styles. We have just acquired nine original "Shawndells". We hope you will come down and take a look.   We are also happy to work with her (and you) on commissioned pieces.  She does fabulous Buddhas.

Haku Maki Sale

I'm currently entertaining an offer from a west coast art dealer to purchase a number of our Haku Maki Prints. Naturally, as a dealer, he's not offering top dollar. So, I thought I would put it out there so that I might do a little better for my consignor. If you're interested in contemporary art and aren't familiar with Haku Maki, I suggest you google him or, even better yet, come down and see our collection. It is museum quality with about 25 pieces. Layaway - The Power of Saving
-Buying great stuff on a budget

Why do we save?  Well, one reason is so that when the opportunity comes along, we can buy great things that we need or want.  Two of our largest recent sales have been on layaway. The folks loved the pieces but simply couldn't afford to lay out the cash for them all at once. So, we worked out a plan that they could live with and put their pieces on Layaway. It's really just like saving if you think about it. That way you can afford the great piece AND you don't have to pay interest. Obviously, the gratification is slightly delayed, but in the end, you'll have a great piece. While we discourage layaways for purchases under $500, we'll work with anyone on just about any budget. You don't have to just "love it" from afar. You can have it. Really! We will work with you!

Another way to look at it. If you are a couple, all you have to do is to NOT go to Sushi Den, Tag, Capital Grill or places like that twice a month, and you can probably save enough to make a layaway payment and have something great that you can appreciate for a lifetime.

Teak Root Coffee Tables - Still Have Two, er, make that one, left

We've  sold  all of our smaller Teak root Coffee tables from our latest shipment, but still have ONE big one left. If you're looking for a "statement" coffee table, even perhaps for a commercial use, come check it out. It's organic, live-edge, timeless, durable, and exceedingly beautiful. And, while not "cheap", because we direct-import,  our prices are a fraction of what they would be in a market such as Santa Fe, Chicago, New York, etc. etc. and, even our own Denver Design Center for that matter.

By "reclaimed", what we mean is that it is from the stumps and root systems left in the ground after Java's old-growth teak forests were logged in the 1970's-90's. In the past few years, villagers have pried these massive pieces of wood out of the ground, and trucked them to Bali, where they are made into amazing pieces of furniture. A custom re-finish is included in the price of every piece. Call for details-price, dimensions, etc. if one  looks to be of interest. But really, I have to say, photos don't come close to doing these pieces justice. So, come on down!

  "The Crescent". 50% off

Buddhas and More Buddhas
- " Every morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most. " -
Gautama Buddha. (This quote coined 'the retailers' lament' by yours truly)

For whatever reason, the Balinese aesethic, when applied to Buddhas, makes magic. That became obvious as we unloaded and unpacked our recent Bali container revealing what is probably our largest and finest collection of Buddhas ever. Standing, sitting, reclining, stone, bronze, terra cotta, wood, etc.; it's an amazing collection, if I do say so myself.

You don't have to be Buddhist to appreciate a Buddha or especially the beauty of the Buddha form in many manifestations. Although I won't get into it here, all of us could likely benefit from some aspects of Buddhist thought, philosophy, and practice. For example, and I'll just say at the outset, this one scares me a little bit:  "The mind is everything. What you think, you become" . And this one seems to be very relevant in this election "silly season":  "Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who said it unless it agrees with your reason and common sense". Hey, this is fun! So, here's one more:  "Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, and faithfulness the best relationship"
