Hi Steve,
I started this newsletter in 2006 to combat misinformation about a congressional election in my district. The newsletter has grown in scope and circulation but the premise has not changed: Elections matter, issues matter, facts matter, and we matter. To support the safety and security of the United States and Israel we have to understand the issues and where candidates stand on those issues.
I hope you find these newsletters worth reading. I spend money as well as time to send them out because the ever-increasing size of the list requires me to use a commercial email service. So only once a year, I send this short reminder to ask that you help defray costs if you can.
Ideally, I'd send this on a slow Sunday when nothing important happened the week before, but that week never comes. I'll make next week's newsletter especially good to make up for this.
If you've recently contributed, thank you, and thanks to everyone for your generosity over the years.
If you want to chip in (again) this year, please click here and fill in the amount of your choice. You can donate $1,800, $500, $180, $54, $18, or any amount you choose--no amount is too large or too small. Every dollar helps. I'm a one-person operation that depends on the support of its readers (that's you, Steve).
PayPal processes the transaction but you don't need a PayPal account. The link gives you a choice of using PayPal or your credit card. Just fill in the amount you want to donate and choose PayPal or a credit card. It's that easy.
When you click the link, the cursor will be on the amount you want to give. Just start typing the amount (rather than trying to first delete the zeros). Then select PayPal or credit/debit card by clicking the appropriate button, and then fill in the requested information. The whole process takes less than a minute.
If you prefer, you can Venmo @steven-sheffey (the last four digits of my phone number, if it asks, are 9479).
If you'd rather send a check, please reply to this email and I'll send you mailing information.
You don't have to chip in if you don't want to. How's that for a savvy fundraising pitch? If you can't contribute, if you don't want to contribute, if you hate the newsletter, if you are a relatively new subscriber, or if you or a loved one is going through a hard time, then of course no donation is expected.
I will always send the newsletter to whoever wants it regardless of whether they contribute. I want you here and I appreciate your reading my newsletter. This newsletter list is influential because you're here, along with so many others.
The truth matters. South Africa is falsely accusing Israel of genocide. International organizations have been silent on the savage sexual violence committed by Hamas on October 7 and against the hostages since then. Today marks 100 days--we must bring all 136 of the remaining hostages home now. Every minute matters.
Republican presidential candidates pretend to be friends of Israel while the House Republicans voted to cut aid to Israel by 30% in September and attach unreasonable conditions to President Biden's aid package, which includes $14.3 billion in emergency assistance for Israel. We must speak out in support of Israel, in support of democracy in the U.S. and Israel, and in support of a two-state solution, now more important than ever.
With your help, we can continue to combat false information and faulty reasoning with hard facts and sound thinking. If you can, please click here to donate.
Look for the regular newsletter bright and early next Sunday.
Thank you for your kindness and your support.
Sincerely,
Steve Sheffey
