People with Purpose Gala is May 2nd!
This pink tie optional soiree is, as one of our repeat guest likes to say, "always inspiring, always festive, and always FUN!"

Emcee Heather Holmes of KTVU Fox Channel 2 will warmly welcome our guests Saturday, May 2nd for an evening that includes a lively cocktail reception, entertainment, 3-course dinner with wine, silent & live auctions, and dancing at the Pleasanton's elegant Castlewood Country Club.

Event highlights this year include honoring our HERS Awards recipients. Join us and find out what makes our 2020 awardees "People with Purpose."

Adding to the festivities: our popular and suspenseful fundraising games. This year's lucky Glitz in a Glass game winner will take home a 65" LG 4K Smart TV, thanks to our prize sponsor, HERS Board of Directors.

NEW this year will be our Heads or Tails game! The prize is a knockout -- not one but TWO pairs of Apple AirPods Pro. These highly sought after in-ear noise cancelling earbuds is a prize sponsored by Anjali & Yatin Rao.

Our silent and live auctions items are equally enticing and include a stunning woven silver collar necklace and matching bracelet, a dream trip to the Caribbean, and a package that includes a birthday cake delivery by some of Fremont's finest -- a Fire Department truck and crew!

Bras for the Cause Walk is Saturday, April 18th
Our dear Tri-Valley SOCKs friends are at it again -- gearing up for their amazing Bras for the Cause Walk! This all-volunteer nonprofit is now in its 15th year! This year's "Aloha" theme is sure to result in lots of grass skirts and leis!

Funds raised will support HERS and many other organizations. There's so much to see and do (entertainment, costume contests, community fair, silent auction, the walk through lovely downtown Pleasanton, refreshments, after-party -- wow!). The Bras for the Cause Walk has it all and is a "don't miss" event!

Our work. Our Impact
HERS is driven by the firm belief that survivors should have access to quality bras, prostheses, compression garments, and wigs, fitting services for these products, and the dignity and healing they provide.

We're grateful that we aren't in this alone. Our mission is supported by Community Partners (some of whom are highlighted here ) who provide foundation grants and donations, as well as support for our annual People with Purpose Gala and Walk/Run & Community Expo event.

The video we're sharing was made possible by the hardworking and creative Fremont Chamber Leadership Class of 2019 and generous sponsors, and beautifully illustrates our work.

We also believe that the cost of products shouldn't be a barrier to health and well-being for low income and under-served patients. Examples of products we provide (and their cost) include:

  • $50 = specialty bra
  • $150 = wig for a patient experiencing hair loss
  • $250 = compression sleeve + glove to alleviate arm and hand swelling
  • $500 = two breast forms (prostheses) for a double mastectomy patient

Not included in these figures are our professional Breast Care Specialists' time and expertise, our warm and welcoming support staff, and billing support (yes, we handle billing for our patients so they may concentrate on what matters most -- their healing).

HERS is accredited by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics. Our Breast Care Specialists undergo training and testing to earn their " CFm" designation -- Certified Mastectomy Fitter. They are incredibly compassionate and knowledgeable, love their work, and have endeared themselves to countless patients.

We're proud to share that we're on track to provide over $180,000 in products to low income and under-insured patients by the end of our fiscal year and will complete well over 3,000 patient visits.
