Neighbourhood Picnic Table Program

Nominate your local park to get a vibrant new addition: picnic tables designed by local artists!

One park will be selected to receive picnic tables through this program, which brings together local artists and neighbours to transform picnic tables into beautiful pieces of artwork. Nominations must be received by May 12, 2025.

Plant trees in your neighbourhood park!

Gather your neighbours to help plant and care for trees in your neighbourhood park! It's a fun community project that will bring more shade while helping to expand our urban forest. We'll provide up to 15 trees per project, along with all the tools and supplies to get started.

Neighbours in Wissler Old Abbey have found a new way to engage with one another.

Volunteers have designed a vibrant neighbourhood sign that proudly displays their neighbourhood boundaries, name and social media channels. Now, neighbours have an easy way to access all the latest community news and events - fostering a more connected and informed neighbourhood!

Want to do something similar or have another idea for your neighbourhood to stay connected? Apply for a mini grant and receive up to $300 to bring your neighbourhood initiative to life.

• The Upstream Fund is fueling local initiatives that make Waterloo stronger—from youth programs to mental health services and beyond. Get inspired by the change happening in our community through the Upstream stories and consider applying to the Upstream Fund if you have an idea supports people to achieve their full potential.
• Come and hang out with Waterloo City Council at the Community Fun Day on April 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex (Room 101). There will be free skating and swimming, along with a chance to share ideas and get inspired about projects happening across Waterloo.

Flowerbed preparation with Cemetery Services is underway. Whether you like to plant your own flowers or prefer our staff to take care of everything, you can honour a loved one and contribute to the beauty of our cemeteries.
