July 4th, Independence Day

As you likely already know, the 4th of July is a very important holiday in America. As such, you will have the day off from classes. However, because it's such a big day for so many people, many places in the city will be extremely crowded. So make sure to take some extra precautions and remember these important rules:

  • You can stay out to watch the fireworks past regular curfew without a special permission form. However, you must be back on campus by 2 AM.
  • You MUST travel with other students while you're in the city at night.
  • Your cell phone MUST be turned on and charged.
  • When you return to campus, you MUST check in at the security desk to let them know you've returned.
  • All shuttles will depart and arrive to the front lobby on July 4th.
  • If you are NOT going out on July 4th, you still need to check in at the security desk at or before roll call time. If your plans change and you decide to leave campus, you must let security know.

From now until Tuesday, the Summer Interns will be arriving at Showa. They will be living in Wings 3, 4, 7, and 9.

The Summer Interns will be assisting with some of the programs we will be running during the summer. Please welcome them to our campus!

From the Academic Department:

As you prepare your final assessments for your courses in the following weeks, please be reminded of the Showa Boston Academic Honesty Policy.

As a Showa Boston student, you must be honest in your academic work. All your written work and presentations must be your own. According to our academic honesty policy, using AI tools dishonestly may result in failing the assignment in which you were dishonest, or failing the course in which you were dishonest. If you are not sure whether you can use an AI tool, please ask your teacher!

It is extremely important that you attend the classes when your SLO assessments are due. If you skip class without getting an excused absence or notifying your teacher, you risk failing the assessment. Please contact your teacher if you are having difficulty or need extra help to finish your assessment.

From Educational Technology:

• The touch panel located outside the Showa Tech office has updated links to places to go in Boston. Check it out!

• Remember to not leave your devices unattended! We have seen a few laptops left in classrooms. Luckily, we were able to return them to their owners. That may not always happen, so be careful.

• Do you know how to scan a document and make it a PDF on your iPhone? Click here to learn about this cool feature!

• Meta has announced a $299 pair of Smart Glasses. Take a look and see for yourself (pun intended)!

• The folding iPhone Ultra is going to be expensive and will lose a lot of value after the first year, according to the experts!

• With the upcoming iPhone iOS 27, you will be able to “track your money” in the Apple Wallet. Learn more here.

Last week’s “tricky pic”… What is not correct about this picture?

Answer:

Try and guess what’s wrong with this week’s “tricky picture.” Is it the color of the curtains? The woman’s hat? The handbag?

Answer next week!
