The Arc in the Community: JPEP Conference
Last week, our advocates presented at the second annual Jeffco Parents Encouraging Parents (JPEP) conference! Planned by parents and a team of experts, including our Director of Child & Family Advocacy, Dr. Sally Carruthers, this event invites parents to bolster their advocacy skills through learning. We had a wonderful time connecting with parents and can't wait to do it all again next year!
JPEP has been held annually since 2025. To learn more about JPEP, click here.

Give Feedback on Details for New Caregiver Cap
The Colorado legislature has approved multiple reductions to Medicaid in the coming years. One of these reductions is a new cap on the number of hours that a caregiver for a Health First Colorado (Medicaid) member can be reimbursed for. These budgeted changes now go to Governor Polis for his signature.
- The new weekly limit will be 56 hours per caregiver for a single member across Personal Care, Homemaker, Health Maintenance Activities (HMA), Long-Term Home Health (LTHH)-Home Health Aide, and LTHH-Nursing Services
- Members will not experience cuts to their authorized service hours or budgets as a result of new caregiver limits.
- The reduction will be implemented in stages. The limit will go down to 84 hours/week on July 1, 2026; 70 hours/week on Jan. 1, 2027; and 56 hours/week on July 1, 2027.
- There will be an exceptions process for members who meet exceptions criteria.
Give Your Feedback
The Department of Health Care Policy & Financing is seeking feedback on the proposed rule. While the 56-hour limit cannot be changed, the department seeks feedback about the exceptions process, enforceability language, and more.
After reading the proposed rule here, submit your comments via this feedback form.
You can also give feedback at the upcoming Zoom meetings listed below.

Support The Arc's Work by Donating Items to arc Thrift
The season for spring cleaning is here. If you’re ready to part with household items, books, toys, clothing, or furniture, consider donating these items to arc Thrift. The arc Thrift Stores provide funding to Arc chapters across Colorado, including ours—so when your donated items are sold at an arc Thrift store, those proceeds go directly toward efforts to offer advocacy and support for people with IDD.
arc Thrift has stores and drop-off locations across the state. Learn more here.
