How to Show LOVE This Month
I have to admit, I'm a sucker for Valentine's Day - I love the LOVE in the air, how the holiday brings a light mood, the colors, the hearts. Similar to Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day always seems to signal the beginning of the end of winter, the chance to see Spring on the horizon.

While we are hoping the darkest days of the Pandemic are behind us, we are still mindful that "getting back to normal" is still a long ways off. The ways in which we show love for our friends and neighbors this year is going to be dramatically different, but the core of that love remains the same. We at Community Action will continue to show love by making sure families can keep putting food on their tables, that their utilities remain paid, and that they remain safe at home.

As we continue to ramp up our operations, we invite you to show some love for our community by donating your time, or donating money directly to our services. Donating either time or money helps give us the flexibility to quickly respond to our community's needs. YOUR love for our community is what's going to help get us to the other side of this pandemic stronger than before.

ANOTHER 30 Year Anniversary!
Community Action of Ventura County is happy to acknowledge Alex Topete's 30th Work Anniversary. We are incredibly thankful for his dedication, knowledge, and integrity. For 30 years, Alex has helped make people's homes more energy efficient, with his ongoing work in our important Weatherization program.

Alex has gone in to assess homes to determine what could be done to help make the home more energy efficient - from installing new windows, to energy efficient appliance, Alex is the "jack of all trades" that has helped save tens of thousands of dollars on utility bills during his career. His skills and work ethic have helped sure our agency continues to be successful. Alex was recently promoted to Field Supervisor and will now be in charge of overseeing Weatherization Assessor and Inspector positions.

THANK YOU for 30 years of service, Alex, your Community Action team can't imaging working without you!

THANK YOU Fresh and Fabulous!
With everything going on these days, you would hope that there's no more to add to the worry list. However, the fence surrounding our building was deteriorating rapidly and was becoming a major source of concern. As a non-profit, we struggle with making immediate repairs because we want as much of our donated dollars to go to support our community.
This is why we are EXTRA grateful for our Board member, Magda Weydt, MS, RD, owner of Fresh and Fabulous, for her generous donation of $12,000. With her contribution, we will not only be able to repair our fence, but we were also able to provide Christmas food baskets for 100 low-income families and essential Christmas bags for our homeless community members.
Thank you Magda, and Fresh and Fabulous!
