K elly Stuart has been working in the film industry for over fifteen years and was recently nominated for a Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) Award for her work as Location Manager on the film Everything, Everywhere All at Once . Kelly’s other credits include Pivoting, Speechless, Better Things, True Blood, Without a Trace and The Black Dahlia to name a few . We were fortunate to work with her recently on the NBC Series American Auto and caught up with her for a chat.

TLP: How did you get into location management?

Kelly: I fell into location management randomly. I had interviewed for an Executive Producer’s assistant job on a film and didn’t get it. But she did recommend me to the locations department where they needed a coordinator. The Location Manager hired me over the phone. I actually had to call someone to find out what a location manager does!

TLP: What do you love most about being a location manager?

Kelly: There’s nothing like finding that perfect location that you just know the minute you see it that it’s “the one”. It’s very fulfilling.

TLP: What do you do when you're not working?

Kelly: When I’m not working, I love hanging out with my husband and daughter. We like going to the movies or staying in for a movie night.
