Our shredding event is scheduled on August 15, from 9 am til noon at the Fremont Township Administrative Office. Enter off of Erhart Road, 22376 Erhart. If the truck hits capacity before noon, the event is over.

You may bring 3 boxes to shred. Staples and paper clips are fine. The most efficient way is to place your items in a paper grocery bag . No plastic bags . Due to Covid and to keep the line moving, you will not be able to exit your car and watch the shredding.

This shredding event is for documents only. Please recycle your coupons,magazines and junk mail with your weekly recycling.

You will enter off of Erhart and drive to the shredding truck. Pop your trunk and we will take the items. Do not leave your car.

They will not accept any binders or hanging file folders or electronic items because they catch on fire in the truck.

The Lake County Board Public Works, Planning and Transportation Committee will discuss the burning ban on Wednesday, August 5 at 8:30 am. To watch the meeting or view the agenda, click here. Item 7.7 addresses this issue.

At the July 29 PWPT meeting, the Committee directed staff to prepare an amendment to the Temporary Emergency Ordinance to extend the ban subject to an exception allowing open burning on unincorporated residential properties at specified times and on limited days.

Households that have not yet responded to the 2020 Census will be receiving a final postcard directly from the U.S. Census Bureau during the last week of July reminding of the importance of self-response during the ongoing global pandemic.  Beginning Aug. 11, census takers will start visiting households that haven’t yet responded. 

While census takers will be wearing personal protective equipment and will follow all safety protocols, the Census Bureau strongly encourages the public to respond online and avoid the need for an in-person visit. Fill out your form now at  mycensus2020.gov , call 844-330-2020 or  watch this video  to learn how you can be counted this year. Households can respond online or by phone   in English or 12 other languages  or by mail using the  paper questionnaire  mailed to nonresponsive addresses.

If you have used towels, sheets or blankets that need to be recycled, bring them to Fremont Township to be donated to local Animal Shelters and Rescues. We do not accept pillows. There is a bin on the front porch of our Administrative Office.

Our shoe bin is also on our front porch and we are accepting shoes to be recycled and reused. We recycled 1547 pounds of shoes last year.

We also accept American Flags, hearing aids and eyeglasses inside the building.

Fremont Township will again be your early voting location for the November 3rd election. You will be able to early vote at Fremont Township from October 19 until October 31.
