Paper Shredding Event at Fremont Township
Our paper shredding event is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 from 1:30 to 4:30 or until the truck is full. There will be a limit of 3 boxes. We don't want the shredder to jam and we want to keep the line moving as quickly as possible, so please r emove all binder clips, booklet binders and paper clips. No plastic bags.
AARP Defensive Driving Course-
Save Money on Your Car Insurance

The AARP Defensive Driving Course will be held on Tuesday, May 7 and Wednesday May 8 from 9:00 am til 1:00 pm in the lower level of the Fremont Township Administrative Office.  Call Nancy at 847 223-2847 to register. $15.00 for AARP members and $20.00 for non AARP members. You must attend both classes.
April 2 Consolidated Election and Voting Options
You will be voting for the people who approve about 90 percent of your property tax bill on April 2. You will be electing municipal offices, library trustees, park district commissioners and school board members in the April 2 elections. These local races impact you! Report a problem on Fremont Township Roads
If you find there is a problem on a Fremont Township road, you are now able to report a pot hole, sign or road issue to us by going to Fremonttownship.com
Renew Your Driver's License at Fremont Township on Friday April 5 from 10 am til 1:30 pm
For your convenience, Fremont Township is hosting a Mobile Drivers License Renewal on April 5 from 10:00 am til 1:30 pm with Secretary of State Jesse White's office. In order to renew your license or State ID at this event, your license or ID must be expiring within one year of April 5, 2019. (April 4th 2020 expiration is the latest date)

Services provided at the mobile event include:
Renewal/Correction of Drivers License
New/Renewal/Correction of State ID
License Plate stickers
Motor Voter Registration with Renewal of DL/ID
Organ Donor Registration with Renewal DL/ID

Seniors 75 and over must go to the DMV because they need a road test

Seniors over 65 can get a free lifetime State ID.  If you have moved and your address has changed you can get that changed here. You will need proof of your address.
Drivers who will be 75 years of age or older when their current drivers license expires are required to pass a road test to renew their license. That is not offered at this event. Anyone 75 or over must go to the DMV.

You will be issued a temporary license and the permanent will be mailed to you.
You may also renew your license plates at this event. Cash, Check and Charge are all accepted, but there is a fee for using a credit card.

Congratulations to the Fremont Township Cert Team for the Stormwater Management Award for Education, Outreach and Media Award – WRLR 98.3FM – The Voice of Lake County!; Terry Cox and Lou Bruno, “CERT Presents” Show. Did you know our Cert team is on the radio? WRLR 98.3 on Thursdays at 6pm.
RTA Reduced Fare Pass Applications
Seniors 65 and over may apply for the RTA Pass at Fremont Township. Taking the train downtown? This will save you money and it is free. It takes 3 to 4 weeks to receive the pass in the mail. Bring in your Illinois driver's license or state identification. We will take your photo for free.

The RTA Reduced Fare Permit allows older adults, age 65 and older, and qualified people with disabilities and Medicare recipients to ride all RTA fixed-route services (regularly scheduled CTA, Metra and Pace buses or trains in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will Counties) at a reduced fare.
Bird Watching Hotspots

 Each spring, thousands of birds utilize Lake County Forest Preserves to feed, rest and nest. Visit four birding hotspots looking for water fowl, marsh birds and other migratory species. Spotting scopes and binoculars will be available for public use.  
Fremont School Partners with Sheriff's Office
Fremont School District 79 is teaming up with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in a new pilot program that will enhance school safety efforts when seconds matter. The program will focus on information sharing between County schools and the Sheriff’s Office. Through the partnership, the Sheriff’s Office will maintain an internal website which will provide live-video feeds of cameras within the school (for schools with installed cameras), aerial views of the school and surrounding area, floor plans of each school building, and other updates to first-responders in a critical incident.  Find out more .
Heart Disease Class
Let’s Talk About Your Heart is a Program that will be held on Tuesday, April 30 from 12:30 – 1:30 pm at the Ivanhoe Congregational church located at 21078 W Route 176 in Mundelein.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women.  In this presentation we will define cardiovascular disease and its causes, its importance to our lives, factors that increase our risk, and how to reduce the chances of developing this disease.

  Fairy Tales and Fables-Kirk Players’ Spring Children’s Show
Kirk Players will present its spring children’s show, Fairy Tales and Fables , a lively collection of works from Aesop, Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson and Mother Goose adapted for the stage by Kirk Players, on March 29-31 at Mundelein High School Theatre.

Fairy Tales and Fables opens Friday, March 29 @ 7pm, followed by performances on Saturday, March 30 at 2pm and 7pm, and Sunday, March 31 @ 2pm.

Dream Catcher Making April 3 at 10 am
Are you looking to do a new craft? Come to Fremont Township to learn how to make your own dream catcher. All Supplies will be provided and beginners are welcome. This is open to Seniors 60 and older and they are asking a $5 donation. No Senior will be turned away for inability to pay.  Call Kari Pohar at 847 740-6708 to register. This class is funded by the Agency on Aging and Catholic Charities.

The Annual Town Meeting is Tuesday, April 9 at 7:00 pm in the lower level of our Administrative Building.
8 Week Fall Prevention Program at Fremont Township
Do you have concerns about falling? Would you like to learn more about how to reduce the fear of falling? You are eligible if you are 60 or older, ambulatory and concerned about falling. Call Kari Pohar at 847 740-6708 to register. The classes begin on Thursday, April 4 from 10 am til noon.
Grand Dominion Home and Business Expo April 13 8:30 til 2
Attend the expo and be entered to win one of several raffle prizes, valued at $25 each! Be sure to stop by the Grand Dominion Marketing Commission booth for more information and your chance to win. This is a FREE event and is open to the public.
Saddlebrook Community Craft Fair
The spring craft fair is scheduled for April 13 and 14 from 9 am til 3 pm at the Lake Lodge. 1 Saddlebrook Drive, Grayslake. Follow the signs.
Chair Yoga with Weights
The Agency on Aging and Catholic Charities are offering a 4 week Chair Yoga with weights class at Fremont Township beginning Wednesday May 29th at 1 pm. This class is open to seniors 60 and over. Please call Kari Pohar at 847 740-6708 to register. If you have light hand weights already, please bring your set. A small number of hand weights will be available. Benefits of Chair Yoga include balance, strength flexibility and protection from injury.
