Paper Shredding Event at Fremont Township Saturday, May 18
Our paper shredding event is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 from 1:30 to 4:30 or until the truck is full. There will be a limit of 3 boxes. We don't want the shredder to jam and we want to keep the line moving as quickly as possible, so please r emove all binder clips, booklet binders and paper clips. No plastic bags. If you would like to volunteer call our office at 847 223-2847.
Mundelein Comprehensive Plan Open House
The Village of Mundelein is hosting a public open house on the Comprehensive Plan Update. Community input is essential. Please join them.

How To Remove a Tick
Take precautions against ticks, which can carry several diseases, including Lyme disease. If you are bitten by a tick, promptly and properly remove it with these tips. Click on the photo above or here to view the video.

The  Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center  is urging residents to take precautions against ticks. In 2018, over 35 percent of deer ticks submitted for testing by the Health Department carried the bacteria that causes Lyme disease.

Protect Your Pets from Ticks
Dogs love to roll around in the grass, jump in brush and walk in wooded areas – ALL places ticks may live . Watch this video to find out the proper way to check and remove ticks from your dog.

Putting in a New Driveway in Unincorporated Fremont Township?
Fremont Township Highway Commissioner, Bill Grinnell is reminding unincorporated Fremont Township residents having their driveways repaved, they must contact the Fremont Highway Department first for a driveway culvert inspection prior to any work being done.  Please call the highway department at 847 223-2848.

Let’s Improve Metra Service along North Central Line…The Village of Mundelein and the Regional Transportation Authority, in partnership with Lake County Transportation Alliance and other local communities, are working to identify changes that would improve service along the Metra North Central Service line. The Lake County Division of Transportation is beginning a countywide Bike Path Wayfinding and Signage study. Ultimately the goal is to help the public using the bike paths have a better understanding of where they are on the trails and make it easier to find connecting destinations. Eventually this may lead to increased usage of the bike path network in Lake County and encourage people to get out of their cars and use non-motorized transportation options.
Free Hepatitis Testing
In observance of National Hepatitis Testing Day, the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center and community partners will host a free community event to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote the prevention, care and treatment of hepatitis. The event will take place on Monday, May 20, in the lobby of the Lake County Building, 18 N. County Street in Waukegan, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Are You Prepared for an Emergency?
Fremont CERT is providing free 90-minute sessions to learn about disasters that are likely to happen within Lake County and the impact they can create. The potential effect that disasters can have on transportation, electrical service, telephone communication, availability of resources, (such as food, water, shelter, and fuel,) and emergency services will also be discussed. Everyone in the community has a role in disaster preparedness and response. Find out how you can prepare in advance to improve the quality of your survival and reduce the damage from hazards. We will also talk about what you can do until help arrives and how to recognize and treat life-threatening conditions.

Summer Lunch Program Volunteers Needed
There is a wonderful summer program called Summer Lunch Program that ensures free healthy lunches for kids in our area. Northern Illinois Food Bank partners with the Mundelein community to provide the healthy lunches. If you are interested in helping,click here for more information.

Come see Kirk Players funny finale of the season, A Night of One Acts , opening on Friday, June 7 at 7:30pm at Mundelein High School Theatre. Additional performances will take place on Saturday, June 8 at 2pm and 7:30pm and Sunday, June 9 at 2pm.

RTA Reduced Fare Pass Applications
Seniors 65 and over may apply for the RTA Pass at Fremont Township. Taking the train downtown? This will save you money and it is free. It takes 3 to 4 weeks to receive the pass in the mail. Bring in your Illinois driver's license or state identification. We will take your photo for free.

The RTA Reduced Fare Permit allows older adults, age 65 and older, and qualified people with disabilities and Medicare recipients to ride all RTA fixed-route services (regularly scheduled CTA, Metra and Pace buses or trains in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will Counties) at a reduced fare.
