Shri. Purandara Dasara Aaraadhane Indian Classical Music Competition "Vyasa - Purandara" On the occasion of Shri Purandara Dasara Aaraadhane,  Kannada Sangha (Singapore) is organising  Carnatic Vocal & Instrumental and Hindustani Vocal Music  Competitions on  2nd February 2020 (Sunday)  to commemorate Dasa sahitya (Literature) rich contribution to the musical world.  This year's competition is dedicated to propagate the works and compositions of  Shri. Purandara Dasaru  and Shri. Vyasarayaru.   Registration will be opened in January 2020. Prepare for the competition during December Holidays.  There will be teachers Whatsapp group to help and clarify any doubts on the competition. You may inform us with details if any of your teacher would like to join the whatsapp group .    Notes: Group song (Adult) category has 7 minutes in total and one of the group members has to present a narration (description) of the composition.  Group Song category can include Percussion accompanied artists (Max 2). Song Selection by participants MUST exclude the following Songs as specified in the Point 2 of General Rules and Regulations. First Prize winners in a specific category for the year 2019, are not eligible to participate for the same category this year. However they can participate in the next higher category/Open category. New*  GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS   Participants should sing or play 'Shri Purandara Dasara ' (excluding the Pillari GeethegaLu) or "Shri. Vyasa Rayaru" compositions only Participants MUST NOT sing or play compositions selected in previous years. Kannada Sangha validates data with previous years.  No "alapana" or "Swaras" for the Normal Category.  No rhythm to accompany. Singing is aCapella based for Carnatic Vocal.  Hindustani Style - Selected Songs as per the theme to be presented in Hindustani Style and electronic Tabla is allowed. Participant should memorize the song that they are going to present. For Group Songs, the group size MUST be 4 Singers. To avail the Member Discount, at least 2 of the group participants MUST be Kannada Sangha Members.  For Open category (Ragam, Kalpana swaram, nerava - Optional). there is no age limit. Allotted time is as stated in the table above and participants are requested to prepare for the duration mentioned above. Song Selection by Participants MUST EXCLUDE the following songs: Venkatachala Nilayam Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma Nammama Sharade Jagadodarana Narayana Ninna Naamada Smarane Venkata Ramanane baro.  Rama Rama  Jaya Jaya Janaki Kallu Sakkare Hari Smarane Alli Nodalu Rama
