Mission Staycation 2021 Update
So far, we have 29 people signed up for our Mission Staycation. Are you signed up yet? We need to know by May 5 if you are going to take part on June 10-12
Why would you? Well, when was the last time you got to spend a couple days serving others WITH others?! Church, we need this to revive our hearts, minds, and spiritual lives. Give it a chance and see what happens. At worst, you get to help others and sort of think it was an uneventful two days. At best, you build new relationships, revive old ones, and experience the power of our living God.
Encountering the Resurrection
Have you had any moments lately where you’ve felt the power of the resurrected Christ? I pray you have and continue to feel the grace of God in amazing ways.
This week we will take a look at Luke 24 and the encounter two disciples had with the resurrected Christ on the road to Emmaus. Those two disciples had no idea that Jesus was walking with them. It’s often in hindsight that we realize what God was doing or that Jesus was with us through the hardest or most mundane experiences. And that realization can set our hearts ablaze with passion as we share the story of Jesus with the world.
Keep Growing Your Faith
At Shueyville UMC, we believe that being a follower of Jesus is a journey. It isn’t just worship, spiritual growth, or service. It’s all of those aspects combined that help us grow closer to Jesus. Take a look at the opportunities below and try to take in each of the areas of emphasis: Deeper Roots (worship), Stronger Branches (your personal faith), Bountiful Fruit (serving God and others).
Favorite Style of Worship Music
There are few things that can get church people as worked up and divided as worship music. So, if you want an argument, you are in the wrong spot! I love it all. But I do want to hear your preference!
As we vision our future as a church, we want to make sure we are preparing wonderful worship. Do you like traditional hymns, contemporary songs, a blend of both? Please respond to Pastor Brody or this email to share your favorite style of worship music. And be ready for more questions or surveys in the weeks to come.
Worship can look a variety of ways and all are wonderful when our hearts are engaged in praising the Lord.
- 8:00 a.m. Traditional Worship In-Person
- 8:45 a.m. Worship on Facebook Live
- 9:30 a.m. Blended Worship In-Person (Sunday School included)
- 10:30 a.m. Contemporary Worship In-Person
We require masks to be worn in the church at this time. If in-person worship isn’t right for you at this time, please continue to worship online. We value your presence in the body of Christ.
- We are currently set to offer a mask-optional service on May 30 at 10:30 a.m. only. The 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. will still require masks. Please find the service that fits best for you, given the options.
- 380 Kids and Exit X have concluded for this school year. Please let Pastor Brody and Heather know if we can continue to help your young people in any way. We are gearing up for a great summer and already planning for next year.
Part of growing in our faith is prayer. Please take a moment to pray for these people and situations, plus what is on your heart.

Sponsor a youth for the Mission Trip 2021
You can visibly see all the youth who need sponsors, as their names are on the wall outside the Family Life Center. Stop by and see it on a Sunday or call the church office to have us pick one for you. There are plenty of young people who still need sponsors.
Thank you for your continued support of the ministries of Shueyville UMC. Your gifts of your time, talents, and money are all instrumental in sharing God’s love in our community. Thank you.
How are you engaged in serving others and bearing the fruit of love in the world? We’d love to hear so please let us know!
