Dear Parents,

This week we had Shul School in the Sukkah! We began by shaking lulavim and etrogim with the Men's Club minyan and then we split off for our own program. The Shul School had a small discussion about why the Jewish people celebrate Sukkot. Sukkot reminds us of the time when we wandered the desert after escaping from Egypt. During that time, the Jewish people did not have permanent homes. We are fortunate enough today to have homes that are comfortable, safe, and permanent. Unfortunately, not everyone has this privilege. To honor the time in Jewish history when we wandered the desert for 40 years and G-d provided Manna and water for us, the Shul School students created Manna bags for those experiencing homelessness. Our Manna bags are reusable totes and consist of basic hygiene supplies such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and body wash. The students included cards they made showing their support and an info sheet about Sukkot and why we chose this service project. We truly hope that our small donation will help them during this difficult time in their lives.

B'Shalom,

Chaviva Sands

Shul School goes to Rabbi Hoffman

The Shul School students were honored with the 5th aliyah up on this bimah this past Sunday. Following their aliyah, Rabbi Hoffman stopped the service for a few minutes to talk to the students about the lulav and etrog. Everyone learned about the branches that make up the lulav and why the etrog has a pitom. It was fun and educational for all.

Please note, the next Gan class will take place on October 15th.

It was great to see some of our Shul School students at Pizza in the Hut this past Tuesday!

Join us this Saturday night for Simchat Torah as we honor each Shul School class with a hakafah (procession of dancing and singing with the Torah around the sanctuary).

Pizza dinner at 6:30 PM followed by Simchat Torah Service & celebration.

The fun continues Sunday morning with Torah Trivia for kids at 10am!
