On behalf of myself, the Board and staff, I wish the pilgrims a blessed and spiritual Hajj and also extend a joyous
Eid al Adha to everyone with special prayers for God's mercy and peace.
I join you in celebrating the life and legacy of Prophet Abraham (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and recommit to upholding the Abrahamic values of One God, the Most Merciful Creator of all, and of his struggle for a just world.
Let us remember those who have been affected the
floods in Texas and Louisiana. Also, let us remember many other victims of natural and man-made disasters around the world who are displaced from their homes as well as those who lost their lives. Additionally, let us not forget those who are under occupation and oppression by tyrannical leaders.
In addition, we pray for those who have passed away and those who are unable to freely exercise the right to worship or celebrate Eid al Adha. Indeed we must continue to work together to end the suffering of all people and advancing the universal and timeless Abrahamic values. Lastly, we urge the community to work with your local Masajid for the common and greater good in your neighborhoods.
Open Mosque Day was launched in 2007 in order to increase understanding of Muslims and Islam. This year, Open Mosque Day will be on Sunday, October 29th. It is very important to reach out to new friends to help them understand what Islam stands for and what it doesn't. Always remember the Islamic teaching is to "repel evil with good." Please make sure you extend an invitation to your neighbors and friends to visit a mosque on Sunday, October 29th.
Once again, I wish you a very happy
Eid al Adha and Eid Mubarak to you and your family.
