Si View E-News August 2022

And just like that, the back to school promotions and Fall decorating ideas are popping up. But here at Si View, we have lots of summer fun left to share with the community. From our weekly Farmers Market to the annual Movies at the Park event or the Festival at Mt Si, there are options for everyone.

Also this month, or rather on August 2nd, District residents will weigh in on the new Si View Aquatic Center proposal. Remember to return your ballot by August 2nd.

In many ways, we are gearing up for Fall (and beyond) as well. Registration for Fall activities opens next week, from the very popular winter recreation basketball league to swim lessons, among many other options. We also have availability in our before & after school care program, with care sites at the Community Center, North Bend Elementary and Fall City Elementary schools. Other exciting seasonal events include the Harvest Festival and the Holiday Bazaar.

We hope you enjoyed the Story Walk program offered in partnership with KCLS in July. Discovering the joy of reading in new setting such as your your local park is a win-win for everyone. If your tory walk took you to  Tollgate Park, you may have noticed a cricket game in progress, cattle on the pasture, the barn construction, or maybe even new directional signs at the junction of Snoqualmie Valley Trail to help you expand your adventures further.

Keep on exploring, and see you at local parks!

Remember to Vote by August 2

Proposition 1 for a New Si View Aquatic Center in North Bend is on the August 2, primary election ballot. A new aquatic center in North Bend would expand capacity, opportunity and access to year-round recreation programming for the community. Ballots for this mail-in election have been delivered to District residents, and are due by August 2nd. Capital measures require 60% super majority. We encourage you to learn more about this proposal here and reach out to us with any questions. And remember, ballots must be returned by August 2nd.

New Aquatic Center

Festival at Mount Si Returns to Si View Park

Your favorite, local, summer tradition is back Saturday-Sunday August 13-14! While the event schedule has been condensed, many of the fan favorites are in place from the parade to music and the cherry pie eating contest. There's even a new 5K Run this year. You'll find Si View team hosting a youth hoop shoot contest on Saturday and an adult pickleball tournament on Sunday. This event is organized by community volunteers. If you can spare a few hours over the weekend, your assistance would be most welcome. Check here for ways to get involved!

Fall Registration Opens August 5

Registration season is here, again! It's now time to pull out Fall calendars and sign up for swim lessons, basketball, after school activities and many more recreational programs. You can view our Fall offerings online now, and registration opens Friday August 5th. You can sign up online, calling us at (425) 831-900 or visiting us at the Community Center/Pool. Seasonal activity guides are delivered to local mailboxes this week, you can also pick up a copy at the community center. Happy Fall season planning!

Open Enrollment for Swim Lessons

We are gearing up for the next open enrollment period for swim lessons. Registration for session G lessons opens at 7am on Friday August 5. Session G will look a little different than what you may be used to. All lessons are now offered once per week rather than twice per week. This is to ensure we can provide a consistent lesson schedule for all ages and skill levels given the challenging circumstances with staffing. Students who enroll in session G, will have priority for the following session H to continue practicing skills at the appropriate level. We appreciate your continued support and active participation in our aquatic programs. As you prepare for registration, take a moment to check that your account with us is up to date. Login here to review contact information and other details. We look forward to seeing many of you in lessons this Fall!

Featured Event: Movies in the Park

It's outdoor movie time!  Mark your calendars! Thursday, Aug 18th is "Family Day" at Si View Park! This event is jammed-packed with fun for all ages - beginning with dinner and treat options at the North Bend Farmers Market from 4-8pm. Loads of kid-friendly entertainment and activities are scheduled including musician Nancy Stewart, and a FREE outdoor movie night featuring Walt Disney's animated film, Encanto, on a giant pop up screen at dusk (approx. 8:30PM). Be sure to pack along a picnic blanket or a low sitting lawn chair. Event sponsored by King County Parks and Si View Metro parks. Register here to be notified of event details.

Si View Park Playground Is...Not Yet Open

We had hoped to be announcing re-opening of the Si View Park playground by now. But as you may know, the fencing around the playground is still up. This project is unfortunately taking longer than anticipated due to installation scheduling delays. Thanks for your continued patience while improvements are made to replace the wood chips with a pour-in place rubberized surface for better fall protection and durability. The estimated re-opening of the east playground is August 5th, we’ll post updates on site and online of any changes. The zipline playground near the pool entrance remains open during this project.
