Si View E-News May 2023

Here in Snoqualmie Valley, we tend to determine if Spring has truly arrived based on whether there is any snow left on Mount Si. We are ready for the next season: The recent Spring weather has brought many families to our local parks, and our teams are ready with an exciting line up of outdoor programming for the community to enjoy. Last month we opened registration for summer camp programs. While many full day options are full, take a peek here, there are still some awesome options to choose from. In April we also celebrated Earth Day with two chalk walk events at the park, thank you to all the participants for creating colorful artwork around the park!

As we gear up for the summer months, and the opening of the Farmers Market season on June 8th, be sure to sign up for the seasonal weekly farmers market e-news for event details including vendors, music line up, special programs and more.

Our crews have been busy working on several outdoor park projects. We can finally say that the construction of the barn at Tollgate Farm Park is complete, and programming has launched. We still need to complete the farmhouse kitchen work which is missing cabinetry and appliances. At Tennant Trailhead Park, the trail construction is nearing completion. However, the next phase - construction of parking lot - will need to be completed before this park can open to the public. We appreciate your patience and using other local trail systems until Tennant opens to the public later this year.

We are hiring! We are looking for new team members to provide our community with excellence in customer service and opportunities to experience amazing recreation and leisure activities. If you love to help people, we may have job opportunities that were made for you. Current openings include lifeguards, seasonal maintenance position, recreation leaders for summer camps and event support personnel. More details available here.

See you at local parks!

Aquatic Center Update

We recently completed our third community listening session on the future aquatic center plans. Our sincere thanks to all participants, your input is truly valuable. The next key action item is a statistically valid resident survey to gauge the level of support for a capital bond measure. This survey will be conducted in May-June by Elway Research Inc. Survey recipients are randomly selected from registered District voters. If you get a letter, phone call or a text message asking you to participate in a Si View Parks survey, please take a few minutes to complete the survey. It is critically important to hear from as many residents as possible. The survey results and input from the listening sessions will be reviewed by Si View commission in the decision-making process this summer for a potential capital bond measure to present to voters in November 2023.

This is also a good time to check your voter registration status. If you are new to the community but haven't yet registered to vote, you can do so here.

Open Enrollment for Summer Swim Lessons

Open enrollment for summer swim lessons begins 7:00AM on Friday May 19th. Summer session includes weeklong sessions 1-9 and weekly lessons for sessions E and F. We know family schedules are busy during summer break and strive to offer a variety of lesson options. You can choose from short weeklong sessions or month-long sessions with classes once a week during summer.

New to our swim lessons? Please review our swim level skill charts prior to registering. It is preferable that students succeed in the appropriate class rather than struggle in one that is difficult. All students will progress through levels at different speeds depending on age, physical coordination, practice outside of class, etc. In most cases, completing a swim level takes  ten hours of instructional time. Learn more about skills for each swim level here
