November Alumni Donor Spotlight: Siddhi Shah |

To fuel innovation, a company must pulse on their customers' challenges and invest in resources and technologies that benefit customers in a meaningful way, while also staying in line with the company’s mission. That’s where Corporate Strategists, like Siddhi Shah Chhoeng (Lowell High ‘98), come into play. At MilliporeSigma, Siddhi uses her knowledge in STEM and communication to help effectively position the company so they can solve the toughest problems in life science.
Prior to Siddhi’s successful career in STEM, she was a top student at Lowell High, where she was an active member of the Science Club, participated in the annual science fair, and even had the chance to work with Boston University’s City Lab before she graduated.
Today, Siddhi credits the experiences that she had there as a major part of her success in the STEM world. Earlier this month, our Alumni and Programs Coordinator, Madelaine, sat down with Siddhi to discuss her work at MilliporeSigma, her new book, The Career Lab Formula, and to share stories about Lowell High, alumni to alumni.

Students Participate in Robotics Competition |
|
FIRST LEGO League, founded in 1998, is an international science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) program that provides a hands-on robotics experience to elementary and high school students around the world. The League launches an annual robotics challenge for student participants to take on. This year, the theme is "Cargo Connect," and focuses on transportation.
Lowell's FIRST LEGO League Team is made up of 49 elementary students from three different schools, led by Ms. Paquette from the Greenhalge, Ms. Sayer from the Reilly, and Ms. Regina from the Lincoln. The students, who are participating in the Discover Challenge for the 4-6 year age range, have been hard at work
programming their robots using innovative ideas, creativity, and collaboration!
We would like to send out a big thank you to Merrimack Valley Robotics, Inc. for their support, as well as to our two outstanding UTEACH STEM interns from UMass Lowell, Ryan and Amanda, and of course to the Lowell educators who make this experience happen for our students!

This past June, the Fine Arts Department was blindsided when a pipe burst on a Friday afternoon and flooded the school, leaving the band and chorus rooms filled with six feet of water for days. After over a year of not being able to fundraise due to the pandemic, the self-sustained department was not prepared for the devastating news.
After hearing about the flood, these organizations jumped to support the Lowell High Fine Arts Department. The donations made by the Music Drives Us Foundation and Subaru of New England enabled the replacement of countless instruments, costumes, and equipment that were lost, and Hollowood Salvage was more than happy to supply the department with stage props from real-life tv and film productions.
Between this outpouring of support driving a fresh start and having more students that want to participate in the program than ever before, Lowell High's Fine Art Department is excited for their future holds!

ABOUT US
From mentors, advisors, guest speakers, tutors and more, Lowell High Alumni are valuable resources for current students. The Lowell High Alumni Association, funded in part from the Cummings Foundation, is a collaboration between Project LEARN, the Greater Lowell Community Foundation and the Lowell Public School district. The mission of the Alumni Association is to help alumni connect with each other, to engage with the school, community and to inspire future generations of LHS students through mentoring, advising and tutoring. We invite alumni to connect and find ways to work on new and existing programs within the schools to better the academics and the lives of all Lowell Public School students.
