The library is offering a new
service so that customers can have access to physical materials once more! The ability to place new holds on physical materials will remain paused until existing holds have been processed. The library is not accepting returns or donations at this time.
Customers with holds will receive an email once their hold is available for pickup at their branch. They can then head to the Curbside Pickup Zone during their branch’s Curbside Pickup hours. In the beginning, the library is asking customers with pickup at these branches to please come on an assigned day to avoid traffic issues.

Cooper Branch: Thursdays, 1:00-5:00
Montross Branch: Fridays, 9:00-1:00
Newton Branch: Saturdays, 9:00-1:00
There will be no curbside pickup at any location July 3 or 4. Curbside pickup is not available at the Towne Centre or Fried Center branches, or at the Friends Bookshop at this time.
Park in the Curbside Pickup Zone (there will be a sign out front) and text or call the number on the sign. If you don’t use a mobile phone, call 540-645-5381 (or 804-224-0921 for Cooper, Montross, or Newton) right before you head to the library and staff will keep an eye out for your arrival. If each spot in the Zone is full and there’s already a line, please park for a moment until there’s room for one more.
Once you’re in the Curbside Pickup Zone and have let library staff know that you’ve arrived, pop your trunk, or if that’s not possible, roll down a rear window. For your safety and that of staff, be sure to stay in your vehicle with the doors closed. A staff member wearing a face mask and gloves will check out your materials, bag them, and deliver the bag right to your car!
