FOUR PILLARS CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE

Sigma Chi - AU Chapter

Building Strong, Successful Men

for Over 100 Years!

FRIENDSHIP ✠ JUSTICE ✠ LEARNING ✠ LEADERSHIP

Brothers,

As I hope you already know, we have launched a Capital Campaign with a goal of $14M to build a new AU Chapter house and establish a $500k endowed scholarship fund for deserving Sig undergraduates. The new house will provide state-of-the-art facilities, including a gym, study hall, library and more live-in capacity. This is no easy feat, but with the help of generous brothers like Dr. Paul Olivera, III and Rick Myers, we are making great progress! Each month, we'll feature two Brothers who are making the Alpha Upsilon "Legacy of Leadership" a reality for Sigma Chis at USC.

MEET OUR DONORS

Dr, Paul Olivera, III aka The Naked Rifleman, AU '78

"I grew up in Ontario, California and came to USC in 1974. As a first generation college student, I didn’t know anything about fraternities or sororities. My freshman year, I lived in the dorms on Exposition Blvd at Harris Plaza. In my second year, I discovered the Row and pledged at the Sigma Chi house, where I earned the moniker, The Naked Rifleman - a story for another time...

While at the house, I roomed with Rick Myers, and we are still close friends - and of course brothers. My time at USC and as a Trojan Sig taught me so much. I learned people skills, the importance of setting goals, and how to get along with everyone. Without a doubt, my time at Sigma Chi helped me grow into a much better person."

Rick Myers, AU ' 79

"Our Founders outlined in The Spirit of Sigma Chi that our brotherhood is built on diversity—brothers with unique talents, temperaments, and convictions coming together to form a powerful bond. But in the process of becoming brothers, I not only learned to accept the differences of my brothers, I learned to draw strength and growth from them. The immersive experience with the AU Chapter and brotherhood played a pivotal role in shaping my life, profoundly influencing my success in both business and personal relationships.

Some say you should wait before joining a fraternity in college. I believe waiting only delays the chance to meet and learn from exceptional men and role models like Bill Holl, Kerry McCluggage, Dr. Paul Olivera, III, and Joe Wirht. Watching these men contribute to and interact with others gave me a roadmap for growth and success. I cherish the strong Trojan Sig brotherhood and friendships I've built."

YOU, TOO, CAN BECOME A PART OF HISTORY

This is where you step up. This is where you make history. This is where your name gets added to the Alumni Donor Wall, along with Bill Holl, AU '79 and Joe Wirht, AU '81, as one of the men who helped usher the new Alpha Upsilon Chapter House into its next, proud era.
