Call for Building Awards Committee Members!

The annual Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Building Awards Program celebrates the best of Staten Island’s prolific building, construction, and design industries. Every year, applications are submitted for residential and commercial properties with new construction or renovations. Contractors, engineers, architects, interior designers and decorators, landscapers, craftsmen and homeowners are encouraged to submit entries that show off quality and beautiful work. Committee members assist in planning, promoting, and setting up for the event, as well as seeking sponsors and attendees. If you are interested, please send Perrie an email.
The Chamber hosted an "Open House" featuring representatives from  NYC Department of Small Business Services , as well as  NYC Business Solutions . Guests of the workshop had the opportunity to network, and learn about free services available to small business owners, through the city.

Elements of a Good Business Partnership

Like a bundle of sticks, good business partners support each other and are less likely to crack under strain together than on their own. In fact, companies with multiple owners have a stronger chance of surviving their first five years than sole proprietorships, according to U.S. Small Business Administration data.

Yet sole proprietorships are more common than partnerships, making up more than 70 percent of all businesses. That's because while good partnerships are strong, they can be hard to make. Click here for some elements that good business partnerships require.
