Neighbors:
At the risk of sounding like a bad TV commercial, ya really gotta “Act Now!” That is, your POA has arranged with Anne Arundel County’s Office of Emergency Management for an additional running of each of its two most popular, and essential, first-aid courses—hands-only.
- CPR/AED (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator)
- Stop the Bleed (StB)
Therefore, we strongly advise any resident of either AOTB or Oyster Harbor who can do so, to apply now for either or both the courses, to be held at he Busch Library on West Street. Dates and times of the next sessions:
CPR/AED — Friday, February 7, 6 to 7:30 pm
Stop the Bleed — Friday, February 14, 6 to 7:30 pm
See the videos below for more information on what to expect.
These courses are conducted by Jorge Paucar, an experienced Emergency Medical Technician the county has engaged to do lifesaving community outreach sessions, and he is very, very good at what he does.
We have a maximum limit of ten attendees for each, and currently five slots have been confirmed for each, so, “act now.”
Last year we had ten neighbors trained in each method. And now that board member Martha McDowell has secured our initial three lifesaving stations (including CPR/AED with StB kits) for positioning in our neighborhood — beach, playground, and Newport pier—it is even more important that every one of us be as familiar as possible with these critical skills.
Please contact me at ddelia@comcast.net as soon as possible to secure your spot(s).
