Summer Tutoring
Individual and small group tutoring is available for students of all ages. Teachers will be willing to work on review or preview for the following school year. Based on an hourly rate of $30/individual or $15/group, your child will be assigned to an  instructor and day that works best for your family. Simply complete the enrollment form based on your preferences.

June/July Adventures
Camp Creativity
Grades K-8   June 4-7 (9 am-12 pm or 9 am-3 pm)

This day camp offers students the chance to think outside the box and delve into
topics and activities that aren’t normally offered in the typical classroom setting – like exploring life beneath the ocean and building a coral reef model, or creating cosmic sun catchers. If your child loves to investigate, create, and build, then Camp Creativity is the place to be!
 
Camp Creativity allows campers to take an active role in learning, experience hands-on activities, while exercising their minds and bodies. Every day is a new adventure! Who says learning can’t be fun?
 
Campers can sign up for a whole day experience (9am-3pm - $160) or a half-day session (9am-12pm $100). Camp runs Tuesday, June 4th – Friday, June 7th. Open to students in Kindergarten through Eighth grades.

The Forest Ridge Academy Music Department will offer its Group Piano Ensemble for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Piano Explorers is offered to students ages 3-4.

Children will learn proper hand position, music reading skills, how to apply notes to the piano, and piano theory. This class offers children the freedom to work at their own pace, as well as providing fun through musical games teaching theory and  performance skills. The camp is intended to be a fun summer enrichment experience.

Stretching, Growing, Succeeding: Writing for High School and Beyond
Grades 7-9   June 10th to June 28th (9 am-12 pm)

Calling all Upper School students! FRA is offering you an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of successful writing for high school and beyond. Mrs. von Sydow has over 25 years experience teaching college English and will tailor the course to needs of 7th, 8th, and soon-to-be 9th grade students. We will focus on developing the thesis, brainstorming, outlining, supporting, and editing.

Cost: $150 for the first week; $75 for each additional week
 
Summer Brain Camp                                                                            
Tuesdays and Thursdays   June 11-July 25 (9 am–12 pm)
Grades JK and K

Keep your child learning throughout the summer! Students who are entering Kindergarten or 1st Grade can come and join Mrs. Rodriguez for Summer Brain Camp. The program will focus on reading, writing, and math. In math, we will focus on beginning of the year kindergarten or first grade material. In writing, we will practice sounding out words, using proper writing mechanics, and adding detail. We will also work on reading, using different strategies and comprehension. All work will be done in class. No homework will be given.
  
We will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am-12:00 pm during the weeks of June 10 th , June 17 th , June 24 th , July 8 th , and July 15 th , and July 22nd. Students may attend Tuesdays or Thursdays or both days.

The Wizard of Oz (Play Version )       
Grades 1-4 June 17-21 (9 am-12 pm)

Calling all theatre explorers…we need you! In a world engulfed by technology, our younger students are no longer finding many places to develop their imaginations. This introduction to theatre class is the perfect place for young students to begin to explore theatre performance. Students will develop life skills like poise, confidence, teamwork, and responsibility while putting together a non-musical, play performance of “The Wizard of Oz” with their friends. Theatre is the perfect outlet for shy and confident children alike, and this safe and friendly environment truly encourages imaginative play. Students will perform their play adaptation for their family on the last day of camp. All students will be featured and have lines!
 
This Summer Camp Package Includes:
  • 5 half-days of instruction in singing, movement and acting taught by trained and experienced Theatre Professionals (15 hours of training!).

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire                    
Grades 4-8   June 24-28 (9 am-3 pm)

You are invited to join Professor Buchler, Professor Velazquez, and Professor Stob for YEAR FOUR at Harry Potter Camp! This entire week will be consumed with aspects and scenes from the book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The students will be sorted into houses, play Quidditch, compete in the Triwizard Tournament, and ward off the Death Eaters. The students will also take classes such as Potions, Wizardly Cooking, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Care of Magical Creatures. Everyday will be something new and exciting! We hope you will join us for our best year yet!

Adventures on The Magic School Bus      
Grades K-2  July 15-19 (9 am-12 pm)

“Surfin’ on a sound wave, swingin’ through the stars, take a left at your intestine, take the second right past Mars, on the Magic School Bus!” Just like the hit  children’s show and stories, students will be transported on a fun journey covering topics like outdoors & nature, chemistry, space, magic, and so much more! Each day will feature a story, science experiment, art project, and writing activity.

August Adventures

Preschool Fun in the Sun
Ages 3-5            August 12-16 (9 am-12 pm)

Join us as we beat the heat with songs, games, stories, crafts, and fun experiments. Help your child transition into the daily school routine as summer comes to an end. We may get wet and even dirty, so come prepared to have fun! A healthy snack will be provided each day.

Disclaimer: All classes reserve the right to cancel if the minimum number is not met. Enrollment for each class must be completed on our Summer Enrollment Form, including emergency contact information.

  • The grade levels listed are for students entering the 2019-2020 school year.
  • Please note, each class is priced differently. Please look carefully at the enrollment form to see the cost and name to which payment must be made. All classes must be paid separately from each other.
  • Child care will not be available on a regular basis. If care is needed, please let us know prior to class. We will help to make arrangements with you.
  • All students welcome. Our programs are primarily restricted to current FRA students, however we welcome new students. If your child is coming from an outside school, a copy of your child’s report card and two letters of recommendation are required with enrollment.
