New Exhibit at History Park
Sign of the Times: Urban Sketches of Vintage Signs by Suhita Shirodkar
Urban sketcher, Suhita Shirodkar, welcomed guests on Sunday to the opening of her gallery exhibit, Sign of the Times: Urban Sketches of Vintage Signs by Suhita Shirodkar .

She released her new book of the same title cataloging the works on display.

Guests joined in a public sketchcrawl with a close-up of the buildings of History Park, followed by a well-earned stop for ice cream at O'Brien's at the Pacific Hotel.

101 Artifacts: Celebrating Women's History
San José Women Make History
San José native, Brandi Chastain, played college soccer at Santa Clara University. 

She eventually played for several Bay Area professional soccer teams, including the CyberRays, FC Gold Pride, and the California Storm.  

From 1988 to 2004, Chastain made 192 appearances and scored 30 goals for the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT). 

Her international acclaim arrived in 1999 for removing her jersey on the field in celebration after scoring the winning goal in the Women’s World Cup final.

New Partners: Giant Creative
History San José welcomes new our new team members, Stephanie Barajas and Steve Bright of Giant Creative, to manage special events and all event rentals at History Park.

Bringing their talents and years of experience, the team is able to take a scaled approach to staffing, so we can facilitate large and multiple events at the park.

This new partnership will increase HSJ’s rental capacity and streamline operations for those interested in using our park facilities for an event.

Author and educator Dr. Francisco Jiménez emigrated from Mexico and worked alongside his parents in the fields of California.

He returns to History Park to discuss the incredible story of his life.

Community Engagement
Teri Nguyen joined HSJ with the vision of increasing partnerships in the community through digital and traditional marketing methods.

Previous projects include drone photography and 3D mapping of the world's largest construction site, as well as leading grassroots campaigns at:

  • Cinequest International Film Festival
  • Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
  • San Francisco Bicycle Coalition
  • TheatreWorks
  • FanimeCon
Teri is also a member of this year's Multicultural Arts Leadership Institute program, facilitated by the School of Arts and Culture at Mexican Heritage Plaza.
