San José native,
Brandi Chastain, played college soccer at Santa Clara University.
She eventually played for several Bay Area professional soccer teams, including the
CyberRays,
FC Gold Pride, and the
California Storm.
From 1988 to 2004, Chastain made 192 appearances and scored 30 goals for the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT).
Her international acclaim arrived in 1999 for removing her jersey on the field in celebration after scoring the winning goal in the Women’s World Cup final.
