Mental Health Tips
We'll be posting some great information from a mental health webinar hosted by Morneau Shepell a partner of CFIB. Lots of great tips that get you thinking about how you are coping with Covid-19 as a leader and how you can help your employees.

It's excellent - details next week!

CFIB makes sense of "alphabet soup" of Government funding such as CERB, CEWS, CECRA
April 23 webinar (recorded)
Government making announcements before they even know how to implement. This is costing business a lot of time trying to keep up, but it is giving some hope to the challenging situation. CFIB has been lobbying Gov't for years to make processes simpler. Clearly the lobbying must continue.

CFIB is lobbying Provincial Governments to "come to the table" with financial aid for small business. So far Saskatchwan ($5K program) Nova Scotia ($5K) and Manitoba ($6K) offer one time loan to companies who are not able to access federal emergency assistance. They hope other provinces will do same.

Important Note: Through CKCA's survey we hear how CERB has created some dis-incentive for your employees to work. Go to 41:30 on the recorded webinar link above. CFIB covers this topic, it's a common issue and employees should be aware that in the future CRA may audit their applications to ensure eligibility was in place. They advise letting employees know this when advising you they are leaving. CFIB also provides this sample letter with guidelines if you are considering a temporary layoff as an option for your business.
Check out this graphic on which provinces are lifting some restrictions on business curbside.

Provinces are starting to discuss how to restart business, i.e. Saskatchewan looking at 5 phases to re-opening.

We'll be watching this for updates in the weeks ahead.
