 Updated Squash Canada Officiating Program
Invitation to All Referees

After 3 years of review and development, the Squash Canada Officiating Committee (SCOC) is ready to fully implement a revised, competency-based Canadian officiating program. The SCOC (Dave Howard, Barry Faguy, Joe Ellis, Les Homme and John Roche) and 'Expert Panel' (Dave Howard, Barry Faguy, Joe Ellis, Wayne Smith and Graham Waters) developed this program at the request of the Squash Canada Board of Directors and the Provinces and Territories (P/Ts) in Canada.   As of the date of this letter, the revised, updated Squash Canada Officiating Program is in effect and operational.

The Pacific Coast Open Doubles - Recap

The Pacific Coast Open Doubles was held at Hollyburn Country Club from January 24 to 29.  Around 100 players entered the event, with doubles teams from Denver, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, Portland, and Calgary all making the trip to Vancouver to compete.
Highlights included an unplanned fire alarm on Saturday afternoon, an excellent dinner at the Sylvia Hotel, and some nail biting finals matches on Sunday at Hollyburn.
A big thank-you to all of the sponsors, including the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Bridge Brewing, The Sylvia Hotel, and Remax Crest Realty Bowen Island.  Bridge Brewing provided complimentary beer for the entire tourney while the Sylvia Hotel put on a great dinner and managed to host over 100 people Saturday night.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped out over the course of the tourney as it could not have been done without them.  Beryl Johnson, who organized all the volunteers at Evergreen and Hollyburn was especially helpful.  Jeff Boag, Cathy Covernton, Hollyburn Country Club, and all starting referees also helped in putting together a great tournament. Evergreen Squash Cancer - Recap

The Evergreen Squash Club had their 5th Annual Evergreen Squashes Canada January 11-15. Top players including World #78 Martin Knight and Canadians Mike McCue World #90 and Nick Sachvie World #101 put on a great show of skilled play at the event.

In Open play, Evergreen's own club pro, Thomas Brinkman, made it to the semi-finals against Martin Knight. Martin Knight took the finals over Nick Sachvie in an epic match. Martin Knight ends his 12-year professional career at the tournament announcing his retirement.

All weekend long, spectators took in exciting matches full of dives and incredible endurance across all divisions including Doubles, an addition to the tournament format this year.

Thank you to the many Volunteers and Tournament Committee for making the event so successful!  Full results can be seen here
