Sign up for Sunday Worship!
We're back in the Sanctuary for in-person Worship this Sunday!  Capacity is limited by IDPH guidelines. You must register to attend by 5:00 pm Friday, July 3. Please read   Requirements for Participation before you  register   on   Signup Genius . We will continue to livestream our service on the GLC YouTube channel. Please note that we have updated requirements to reflect that participants will sing 'in their hearts' only out of an abundance of caution for the safety of participants, staff and volunteers.
Pastor Trudy's Message
When the things we've built unravel
2 Corinthians 5: 17-21   A new creation? I've always heard this in a positive light. A NEW creation! We all love new things, right? Until we are part of a new thing that we don't love so much. Like wearing masks and keeping distance. The new things are almost always about restoring all of the things that get out of balance th e ways we spend our time and resources, the ways we relate to one another, the things we think are important. God had a big plan for restoring balance between God and creation Jesus. And it is in His life, death and resurrection that we see glimpses of a newly restored creation.

God, You continue to find ways to restore us; help us to see them as a gift. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Reconciliation this is a big word that is part of our scripture text AND part of what is happening in the world. Reconciling at its most basic is settling accounts. We celebrate the 4th of July and freedom that came after a war, which seemed to reconcile the issues between England and the colonies. We now know that there is always something more to be settled. Today there's an abundance of people asking for accounts to be settled eager to lay blame or assign responsibility and an equal abundance who claim they are not responsible and should not bear the blame. Now read   2 Corinthians 5: 17-21  again with these modern challenges in mind.  Our faith calls us to a different standard and our freedom in the US gives us the space to live into this work of reconciling, not because it's easy, but because if we follow Jesus, it is where He will lead us.
