Golf Etiquette  -  Basic Tips
Here are some basic etiquette tips that every golfer should know.
  • Always play without delay, and keep up with the group in front of you.

  • Let faster groups play through.

  • Don't move, talk or stand too close to a player making a stroke.

  • Don't step on another player's line of putt.

  • Make sure the group ahead of you is out of the way before hitting.

  • Shout a warning if your ball may hit someone - "fore!"

  • Repair divots, ball-marks and smooth footprints in the bunkers.

  • Replace the flagstick carefully and in an upright position.

  • Leave the course in the condition you would like to find it.

Denise's Corner
We finally got the rain!

Half way through the season and the turf is hanging in there. We definitely didn't need almost 7-inches of rain in one week, but it did give us the opportunity to inspect some drain lines on the course. And yes, several are plugged and will need a couple of new lines. Hopefully the first part of next week we can address the pond that seems to appear after an inch of rain in the first fairway. That line happens to be clay and isn't attached to the drain to the right in the rough. Because of that, we are going to install a new one. The drain at the 100 yard marker on #8 fairway is also plugged, so it's next on the list.

Many folks enjoyed the 4th of July fireworks on the golf course. I think this was one of the bigger crowds we've had in the past few years. It's nice to see so many non-golfers enjoying the grounds. Unfortunately, with that comes bug spray. As evident on the fairways, aerosol bug spray burns the turf. We would encourage everyone to use a cream or pump type repellent. If the aerosol is all you have, nothing gets damaged when it's applied on a cart path!

We have plans to start phase 3 of the #5 tee native planting next week. Seven different Carex varieties totaling 8,000 plants were ordered and will be delivered next week. Our plan is to plant July 13-15, so if you're looking for something to do, come on out and join us!

Happy golfing!
