Nebraska Coalition of Non-public Schools is a recently formed organization formed to defend and promote family access to educational opportunities. We are delighted to hear that our State Senators have chosen legislation (Nebraska LB753) that provides greater opportunities for Nebraska kids, their primary educators, and their parents. Senator Lou Ann Linehan stated, “[LB753] creates opportunities for children in Nebraska, regardless of their parents’ income, to have access to an education that they want, desire, and deserve.”

The passage of LB753 marks the acceptance of an idea that is well overdue for the state of Nebraska, as Nebraska is the last state to pass a form of school choice. Children only get one shot at education, and they deserve the opportunity to find the correct fit for that one shot. Nebraska students deserve the same opportunities that so many others across the country enjoy today. It’s important that as primary educators, parents have options for how their children should be taught.

This measure certainly opens the door for a new group who have felt financially unable to attend a school that aligns with their family values. We are excited that this measure has passed and we are gearing up to serve more Nebraskans.
