Thuli Madonsela (2017) says the biggest change to South Africa's education system is being made by those who are leveraging their privilege. Ms. Madonsela recently delivered a lecture at the University of Cape Town on "education and the complex shadow of our unjust past."

Brett Perlman (2016) is arguing that economic growth requires immigration. Mr. Perlman and the Center for Houston's Future were featured in a recent article in the New York Times for their research linking immigration to the city's economic growth.

David Moody (2015) is taking a stand for safety from physical and sexual abuse. Mr. Moody will receive the "Our True Ally Award" from Men Stopping Violence on September 19 in recognition of his efforts to speak out against violence towards women and children.

Carol Johnson-Dean (2014) will serve as LeMoyne-Owen College's interim president. LeMoyne-Owen College, a four-year historically black college in Memphis, said Dr. Johnson-Dean's breadth of educational leadership experience would help advance the mission of the college.

Paul Irving (2010) is urging employers to see the opportunities of an aging workforce. Mr. Irving's op-ed "When No One Retires" has been selected as one of Harvard Business Review's 10 "must reads" to be published in its upcoming annual book.

Carol Johnson-Dean (2014) will serve as interim president for LeMoyne-Owen College.

ALI Faculty Board Member Julie Battilana (HBS/HKS) is helping examine the theory behind corporate social responsibility (CSR). Prof. Battilana's work was featured in a recent HBS roundup of research and writing in response to the Business Roundtable's statement in support of CSR.  
ALI Faculty Executive Committee Member Howard Koh (SPH) welcomed new students to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Koh delivered the keynote address during orientation week, urging students to become ambassadors for public health.
