HONORING THE MEMORY OF LOCAL HERO

This month, we honor the memory of Lloyd Comiter, Esq., a pillar of our South Florida community. Lloyd has lived in South Florida since 1967 and has been a dedicated Florida Bar member since 1991. Lloyd's impact extended far beyond his legal practice.

He was deeply committed to fair and accessible conflict resolution. As a highly respected Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator, Lloyd generously volunteered his expertise, notably with The Florida Bar's Grievance Mediation program. His influence was felt statewide; he helped shape legal procedures, he served as the chair for The Florida Bar Small Claims Rules Committee, and was a member of the Supreme Court of Florida's Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution Rules and Policy. He also dedicated time to upholding professional standards on a Bar Grievance Committee.

Lloyd's tireless work and volunteer service made our community stronger and more just. He recently passed away, leaving behind his loving wife Meryl and their children Chad, Elyssa, and Jordana. We are deeply grateful for his contributions and honor his legacy.

Boca Raton Introduces School Zone Speed Detection Systems

The City of Boca Raton is implementing school zone speed detection systems as part of its Vision Zero goal to eliminate traffic fatalities and injuries. The goal of this initiative is to enforce speed limits in school zones using advanced technology, ensuring safe environments for children and pedestrians.

The speed detection systems will issue citations to drivers exceeding the posted speed limit by 10 mph during active school hours, limiting enforcement to times when students are most likely to be present. This targeted approach reflects the city of Boca Raton’s commitment to improving safety.

The rollout will follow a phased approach to maximize effectiveness. Phase 1 will introduce the systems at six schools: Addison Mizner School, Blue Lake Elementary School, Calusa Elementary School, Omni Middle School and Spanish River High School (combined zone), Boca Raton High School, and J.C. Mitchell Elementary School. Each location has been selected based multiple factors, including on traffic data, to ensure the installations address the most pressing safety needs.

To support this initiative, the city has planned several upcoming activities, including the identification of additional safety strategies and projects, stakeholder and community workshops, and the development of a comprehensive Safety Action Plan. Demonstration projects will also be conducted to evaluate and refine the program.

More than three decades after graduation, Bruce Silver and his law school friends catch up over lunch.

At Silver Injury Law We Have Been Known to Walk "The Last Mile"

At Silver Injury Law we've been known to walk the "last mile" for our clients meaning that, when liability is uncertain or disputed, we will literally walk the "last mile" on the roadway before an accident happened so that we can see what the other motorist should have seen but didn't. We are mindful that, while we will move on to the next case, our clients only have one case so we conduct our own investigations to turn over every stone so that Justice can be allowed to prevail. Absolutely nobody is as thorough as me and my team in our pursuit of justice. - Bruce Silver Esq.
