Spring Break Safety: What You Need to Know Before You Hit the Road
As March brings warmer weather and Spring Break travelers to South Florida, roadways become significantly more congested—and, unfortunately, more dangerous. Increased tourism, unfamiliar drivers, and higher rates of distracted and impaired driving all contribute to a noticeable rise in accidents during this time of year.
Whether you are traveling or staying local, it is important to take extra precautions. Always remain alert for pedestrians and cyclists, especially in high-traffic areas near beaches and entertainment districts. If you plan to go out, consider using a rideshare service—but keep in mind that insurance coverage can vary depending on the driver’s status in the app at the time of an accident.
If you are involved in a crash, even a minor one, documentation is critical. Take photos, gather witness information, and seek medical attention promptly. Under Florida law, failing to obtain treatment within 14 days can impact your ability to access Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits.
Finally, avoid providing recorded statements to insurance companies without understanding your rights. What may seem like a routine conversation can have significant implications for your claim.
Staying informed and cautious can make all the difference. We encourage everyone to enjoy the season safely and responsibly.

Proposed Change to Florida Booster Seat Law: What Parents Should Know
During the 2026 Florida Legislative Session, lawmakers introduced House Bill 233, a proposal aimed at enhancing child passenger safety by extending booster seat requirements. The bill would have required children ages 6 through 8 to remain in a booster seat unless they meet a minimum height of 4 feet 9 inches.
The proposal was designed to align Florida with widely accepted safety guidelines, which recognize that standard seat belts are not properly fitted for many younger children. Proper use of booster seats can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury in the event of a crash.
Did the Law Pass?
The 2026 Florida Legislative Session officially ended on March 13, 2026, and HB 233 did not pass before the close of session. As a result, there have been no changes to Florida’s current booster seat law, which still applies to younger children.
Why This Still Matters
Although the bill did not become law this year, it highlights an important safety issue for families across Palm Beach County. Motor vehicle accidents remain a leading cause of injury for children, and proper restraints can make a critical difference.
What Parents Should Do Now
Even without a legal requirement, parents are encouraged to follow best safety practices by ensuring children use booster seats until they are tall enough for a seat belt to fit properly. Taking these extra precautions can help better protect children on the road.
We will continue to monitor any future legislative developments on this issue and keep our community informed.

Silver Injury Law Continues Life-Saving Education Across Palm Beach County
Silver Injury Law was proud to continue its partnership with Dori Saves Lives by bringing impactful, life-saving education to additional local students. Following last month’s program at Lake Worth Community High School, our team continued its outreach with presentations at Palm Beach Lakes High School, Palm Beach Gardens High School, and Royal Palm Beach Community High School.
Each presentation was designed to empower students with the confidence and tools needed to help save lives—whether for a friend, family member, or someone in their community.
We are incredibly grateful to the schools, faculty, and students who welcomed us, as well as to Dori Saves Lives for their continued dedication to this important mission. The engagement and enthusiasm from students across all three campuses made it clear just how meaningful and necessary these conversations are.
At Silver Injury Law, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that prioritize safety, education, and community impact. We are honored to play a role in helping equip the next generation with knowledge that can truly make a difference.

Golf Cart & E-Bike Accidents in Palm Beach County: What You Need to Know
Across Palm Beach County, golf carts and e-bikes have become increasingly popular for short-distance travel, especially in residential communities, downtown areas, and near the beach. While convenient, these modes of transportation also present unique safety risks—and many people are unaware of the legal and insurance issues that can arise when an accident occurs.
Understanding the Risks
Unlike traditional vehicles, golf carts and e-bikes offer far less protection in the event of a collision. Riders are more exposed, and accidents often result in serious injuries—even at lower speeds. With more of these vehicles sharing the road with cars, pedestrians, and cyclists, the likelihood of accidents has increased significantly.
Liability Isn’t Always Clear
Determining who is at fault in a golf cart or e-bike accident can be more complicated than a typical car crash. These incidents often occur in neighborhoods, parking areas, or mixed-use paths where traffic rules may be less defined. In some cases, liability may involve multiple parties, including the driver, a property owner, or even a parent if a minor is involved.
Insurance Coverage Gaps
One of the most important—and overlooked—issues is insurance coverage. Many people assume their auto insurance will automatically cover golf cart or e-bike accidents, but that is not always the case. Coverage can depend on where the accident occurred, how the vehicle is classified, and the specific terms of the policy. In some situations, there may be little to no coverage available, leaving injured individuals facing unexpected expenses.
What to Do After an Accident
If you are involved in a golf cart or e-bike accident, it is important to take the same steps you would after any motor vehicle crash. Seek medical attention immediately, document the scene with photos, and obtain contact information from any witnesses. Because these cases can involve unique legal and insurance questions, early guidance is especially important.
As these vehicles continue to grow in popularity throughout Palm Beach County, awareness is key. Understanding the risks and knowing your rights can help protect you and your family in the event of an accident.
