Dear Friends,
The Planning Association of Washington (PAW) invites you to submit a session proposal(s) for its 2021 Conference to be held IN-PERSON November 15th and 16th in 2021 at the Campbell’s Resort in Lake Chelan. This year, we will be focused on silver linings and concentrating on what the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed as a benefit to our planning community and the communities for which we plan. New normals, changes in perspective, and what the future might look like will be covered during this special conference. In addition, we are excited to continue to provide our “Planner’s Skills Camp” tract. This will cater to skill development ranging from new planners fresh out of college to planning managers. Be a part of our diverse and dynamic presentation offerings. Sessions will be recorded and the conference tracts with the most interest may be broadcast live, these options will be provided for those who are uncomfortable attending in-person events or who cannot attend for other reasons.
We are interested in seeking visionary, creative, and collaborative speakers that offer innovative and engaging presentations. A successful proposal will describe a presentation that relates to the conference theme and addresses one of the following areas of interest:
Silver Linings for the Planning Community:
- Public Engagement
- Economic Recovery
- Outdoor eating, parklets, parking pick up, etc.
- Outdoor Recreation—Supporting outdoor action
- Homelessness, Protests, BLM, etc.
- Telecommuting/Work from Home
- Development
- Infrastructure
- VMT Reductions, increasing in telecommuting, future of work
- What Planners are up to: Rebound in Development
- Legislative Update/Case Law Update
- Climate Change
- Infrastructure Funding from President Biden
- Equality/Inclusion
- Equity Training-implicit bias etc.
- Any topic that fits within the Beyond the Pandemic theme

- Planning Commission Care
- Front Counter Etiquette

Please transmit an email message with session proposals attached as a Microsoft Word document named with the proposed session title only. Please use the following guidelines in preparing your session proposal
:
- Include a paragraph describing the topic and the proposed means of delivering the information.
- Proposals should contain a clear but concise explanation of what participants will learn from the session and how the presentation relates to the conference theme and/or one of the Planner’s Skills Camp Track.
- Provide contact information (names, titles, email addresses, mailing addresses, and phone numbers) for the speakers/moderator along with short speaker bios.
- Sessions should be approximately 90 minutes in length.

Proposal selection is anticipated by September 8th. If selected, the session organizer will be responsible for confirming speakers, creating the content of the session, assigning a moderator, and ensuring the session is appropriately implemented. All speakers at the conference will be offered reduced fee registration for the conference. We look forward to collaborating with you on what will surely be a highly successful event!
