Jack Silver came out of retirement seven years ago to start Silver Sport Transmissions. After growing SST into a very successful company, Jack decided it was time to hang up his hat and maybe do some traveling. He views the employees of SST as his own family and is worried about his customers, many of whom have become friends. He didn't want to sell Silver Sport Transmissions to just anyone.

Paul Lee isn't just anyone. An automotive enthusiast to the core, he drives an NHRA Nitro Funny Car and owns two other automotive companies through his Wharton Automotive Group. He has the same integrity and commitment to customer service that SST has become known for. Paul assured Jack that he would leave the employees in place and continue to treat the customers right. On July 30th, the papers were signed and the Wharton Automotive Group acquired Silver Sport Transmissions.

With the acquisition, Wharton Automotive Group solidifies its place as a driving force in the automotive aftermarket. McLeod Racing, FTI Performance, and Silver Sport Transmissions all specialize in drivetrain components and while all three companies will continue to do what they do best, the opportunity to share knowledge and resources will help all three companies grow.

We pride ourselves on fast shipment times. For most transmissions, the TREMEC T5, Magnum, TR-4050, and select TKX transmissions (18083, 18084, and 18086*) we still have very fast shipment times, 5 business days. However, the TKX models we have in stock are very limited, so call early/fast if you want one. Our A41 Automatic is built to order and continues to have a two-week lead time.

Other versions of the TREMEC TKX are in much higher demand and production has yet to catch up. For these transmissions, it's better to get in line now because the line keeps growing. Your sales representative can give you a current lead time when you call in.

SST does not require a deposit. You keep all of your money in your hands until the transmission is ready to ship. We think it's the right thing to do, especially in a situation like this where you'll have to wait longer than usual for your shipment.

Jeff takes us for a spin in John's 1974 C10. This particular C10 was a long bed, but John has modified his frame to be a short bed truck. Since the bed is off, we were able to get a good look at the modification and the TREMEC Magnum underneath.
