Science Fair News
Mrs. Susan Gaughan

The hard work of four months came to fruition on January 18, at our annual Silver Academy Science Fair.   Our students have been working like real scientists  as they engaged in the scientific method while completing a science fair project. Each student learned valuable skills as they performed research, formed a hypothesis, planned and carried out an experiment, collected and analyzed their data, and lastly formed a conclusion. Four students received first place awards for their projects: Chaim Bell, Or Klapper, Alana Reid, and Samuel Shvartsman. Our first place winners will go to the next level and enter their projects in the Capital Area Science and Engineering Fair in March. In addition, Anthoni Berg and Manya Tsimmerman received second place awards for their science fair projects. We are so proud of each student's accomplishments!

Kindergarten Judaic Studies
Morah Sarah (Mrs. Sally Jo Bronner

Kindergarten is excited to learn about Tu B'Shvat, the birthday of the trees!  Our  honorary  class member, Bentzi, really loves this holiday, and students enjoy their puppet friend's enthusiasm as he helps them learn. Students have been working daily to create a booklet about trees to honor the custom in Israel that every child plants a tree on Tu B'Shvat.  Today we played a giant domino game with lots of Hebrew nature vocabulary.  Looking ahead, we will create a mini book about the holiday, plant seeds, and finally, have a Tu B'Shvat seder so we can taste all of the yummy fruits of the season. One of the fruits, carob, is Morah Sarah's favorite.  We discovered that the students are not familiar with its flavor, but are looking forward to trying it!
