Up Coming Events
For our April shoots we hope to proceed using a " European style" system. Which means shooters can come out and shoot whenever they want on the day of the shoot. Groups need to be kept to 3 people maximum. There will be no meal & no prize time. All activity will be kept outside the clubhouse and cookhouse. Winners will be announced on our Facebook page and our next newsletter. This way there will be no congregating, which is in compliance with the social distancing rules. Maximum registration is 50 people, to be in compliance with provincial guidelines.

Lorne Howes Memorial Shoot for Cancer Research -
Mar 21st (Fun Shoot)

This shoot is in honor of Lorne Howes, who was a life long friend of Don Day and family. Lorne fought a courageous fight with Leukemia but lost the battle and passed away at the young age of 30. Each year, Lorne's brother Randy and his parents join us for the event.

We felt very blessed with the warm weather this year to host this, our 30th, Lorne Howe’s Memorial Shoot. In support of the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Registration was outdoors, and everyone went in small groups practicing social distancing.

No food served and limiting access to the clubhouse.

We’d like to thank you everyone for coming out and supporting this worth while cause. Just over 1450.00 was raised for the cause.
It is due to our local businesses and those who so generously donate that make the Lorne Howes Cancer shoot such a successful and fun event!!

Congratulations to Kelly from Calgary who shot 98 /100
The 50/50 JACKPOT POOL

Each shoot this year, we offer the "Golden Flash Target" with a Jackpot pool opportunity. There is an option to pay $10.00 per person to be included in this pool. There will be one or two hidden flash target/s in each shoot, if you hit the target you will win half the cash pot or in the case of two targets split it with one other shooter. The remainder of the 50/50 jackpot will stay in the pool until the next shoot and continue to build throughout the year.

The Jackpot as of the Pump Gun Side by Side Shoot is now at
$1380.00 rolling into the Silver Willow Spring Opener Shoot

SHOTGUN SELECTION

Shotguns can be found in a bewildering range of types,
designs, sizes and prices. In this installment, we will examine the various types of shotguns commonly encountered in Canada.

All shotguns found in Canada consist of three fundamental parts – the stock, the action and the barrel. The stock is what we hold onto when using the shotgun, while the action is the part of the shotgun that moves cartridges into position and discharges the shotgun. The barrel is a steel tube that contains the pressure generated by the cartridge and directs the shot stream or slug out of the muzzle. There are essentially five types of shotgun actions, namely, the single shot, the bolt action, the pump action, the semi-automatic and the two-barrel models. Of these, only the last three are commonly encountered in the clay target games.
We will examine each type individually, describing them and briefly touching upon both their appealing characteristics as well as some of the challenges they present.
