Safety First At All Times!
|
|
Whether you are an experienced shooter or novice, if you have booked a shoot time or if you are out for a fun shoot, please remember safety always comes first at Silver Willow.
Just a few important reminders: Please review the safety rules.
- Action of your shotgun must be opened at all times.
- The muzzle of your gun must always be pointed in a safe direction.
- The only time the shotgun may be loaded and closed, is when the shotgun is through the opening in the shooting stand.
- No more than 2 shells in the gun at any time with only target load shells.
- The shotgun must be unloaded and the action open before the shotgun is withdrawn from the shooting stand opening.
- Keep your finger off the trigger and out of the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot
- Please respect the group shooting ahead of you, by standing 10 meters back from the stand and not talking loudly while they are shooting.
Gun safety is everyone’s responsibility!

Waiver of Liability/Team Lead Form 2022
|
|
We would ask all members to stop by the reception desk, next time you are shooting, to sign & complete a 2022 Team Lead / Waiver of Liability form. This form covers insurance requirements and provides us with the names of regular guests, also ensuring that they have seen the safety video. Your assistance in completing these in a timely manner is greatly appreciated.

A Blast from the Past
The History of Silver Willow
|
|
Silver Willow ….Someone asked, how did you come up with that company name?
What is in a name? That is a great question.
It’s years of competitive clay target shooting by Don and Gwen Day.
It’s years of dreaming of building a business they could do together on the 3rd generation family farm.
It’s years of serving clients with quality live pheasant hunts on their property while still working full time.
It's the traditional family value of hard work that led them and Don’s parents to develop the Silver Willow grounds.
and the short answer really is......"Silver Willow” is the name of a native prairie tree that grows on the property.

Introduction to FITASC Sporting
Josh has graciously agreed to set up an “old style” parcour on the blue course during the
weekend of April 23 and 24. We are doing this to give folks a chance to see the game of FITASC
Sporting up close, but outside of the competitive setting. That is to say the layout will be run like you will find at a World Cup or a Gran Prix event, but it will also include assistance from the referee and even some coaching for those who would like the help. At a big competition, you can expect no help from the officials. During this demonstration, we will provide as much help as we can. We want this to be fun and educational at the same time.
|
|
If you are curious and have 20 minutes, Ed Solomons, a FITASC World Champion, has a decent video on YouTube at Click the link below.

Just a Reminder!
To anyone bringing a dog out to Silver Willow, we require your dog to be on a LEASH. It would also be greatly appreciated if you kept dogs away from the clubhouse area due to our working dogs, Duchess (Yellow Lab) and Kwatali (Black Lab). Our working dogs can be rather protective of the area near the clubhouse in regards to other dogs. Please be aware of this.Thank You!

SHOOTING LESSONS AND GETTING OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
Author: Luther Cutts, Head Instructor (NSCA Level 3) and shotgun competitor
It is amazing how seemingly insignificant actions can have such powerful consequences.
I was in the chair at the Endodontist’s office, having a root canal performed, when the doctor mentioned to his assistant that he was reading a book that, part way through the book, he was getting the feeling that he had read it before. But, he said, the book was so interesting, that he was going to read it again anyway. The book, “The Secret Letters of the Monk who sold his Ferrari”, is about a very successful American lawyer who leaves his practice and travels the world to find the real meaning of life. It is a fictional work, but what intrigued me was the concept advanced by the book of the advantages of being forced out of your comfort zone.
