Silver Willow will be hosting our fifth Level I Instructor course on October 16, 17 and 18, 2020.

The Level I course is designed to provide competent, experienced shooters with the knowledge and ability they need to teach the fundamentals of shotgunning to beginning or novice shooters. The eligibility requirements for the course are:

  • Be an active member of NSCA
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have at least two years of shotgun shooting experience
  • Have taken lessons (2 hours) from a Level II or equivalent instructor before the course
  • Meet the Shooting Proficiency Requirement by EITHER having earned an NSCA C-Class rating at some point and shot a minimum of 3,000 lifetime registered targets OR by passing a basic Shooting Proficiency Test (SPT) during the course.

Muzzle Control

AUTHOR: LUTHER CUTTS, HEAD INSTRUCTOR (NSCA LEVEL 3), COMPETITOR

The topic of muzzle control is something that comes up frequently – I believe that everyone knows that it is a fundamental element in firearms safety, and few would argue that pointing a firearm in an unsafe direction is a good idea. There does not, however, seem to be a bright-line distinction between what is acceptable and unacceptable gun handling in some commonly encountered circumstances.

For instance, with some individuals, there is a reduced expectation of stringent muzzle control when the firearm is unloaded, while with others, muzzle discipline is the number one rule that must never, under any circumstances, be infringed upon.

Welcome to the Family

We are happy to introduce Kwatali.
He’s a new member of Josh Day's family and partner for the “mascot” role with Duchess at Silver Willow.
He unlike Duchess, is a NO treats dog. He’s been well trained by his past owners and Josh would like him to remain that way. He is quite and friendly and loves to be petted.
Farwell to Elynne

In September Elynne will be returning to her studies finishing her last year of a 2 year Diploma in Medical Radiologic Technology (X-rays & CT scans) at SAIT. She will miss baking Banana Bread for Silver Willow members & guests!
