2022 Destination Guide
There's still time for businesses to be included in the Silverdale and Bremerton Chambers' 2022 Destination Guide. Participation is easy with our partners at Lunar Cow Publishing creating artwork for businesses that don't have ads ready to publish at no extra cost.

This new guide will serve as the Chambers' premier promotional piece. The guide is the first resource that visitors will use when looking for attractions and planning trips to Silverdale and Bremerton.

Participation in the Destination Guide has great advantages. 10,000 printed copies of this publication will be distributed in the best locations (including 7,500 on WSDOT ferries) to help drive traffic to our advertisers, and our digital GoGuide® will allow you to reach thousands more. Your advertisement in the digital GoGuide® will be linked to your website, giving readers one-click access to your business.

Deadline to reserve your space is June 3, 2022.

RECAP! April Membership Luncheon
The Silverdale Chamber was pleased to welcome Senator Christine Rolfes of the 23rd District to our luncheon last week. Senator Rolfes shared with us her insight on this year's legislative session where, among many other things, she helped pass $100 million in relief funding for the hard-hit hospitality industry. Chairman Dave Montoure presented Senator Rolfes with the Chamber's "Hospitality Hero" award for her work on behalf of small businesses. We also were happy to introduce five new members to the membership, after an incredibly busy month where the Chamber saw 13 new members join our association!

WA Commerce Dept Launches
New Creatives Academy
The Washington Department of Commerce has launched its new Creatives Academy, the third in a series of self-directed educational academies for small business owners. Designed to teach the essential skills needed to turn a creative pursuit into a successful small business, the academy contains 11 tracks. Lessons range from developing a business mindset and accessing capital to finding customers, creating winning pitches and negotiating terms.

The Creatives Academy lessons are available at MyStartup365.com. It joins two other academies on the state’s small business resource site, the Entrepreneur Academy and Restart Academy. A smaller series covers Mastering Financials. All of the training materials are free of charge and do not require registration.

“The creative sector is an essential part of Washington’s economy, employing nearly 400,000 workers,” said Lisa Brown, Commerce Director. “As I travel around the state, I am continually impressed with the tremendous talent we have in Washington, from artisans and musicians at community festivals to those exploring their passion for craft brewing, dance, coding or 3D printing. There is so much untapped potential in the creative sector.”

Mother's Day Spending to Reach Record High
From the Washington Retail Association

There is good news for retailers as an NRF survey predicts Mother’s Day spending to be $31.7 billion this year, up $3.6 billion from 2021. Approximately 84% of U.S. adults are expected to celebrate the holiday, with the top gifts being greeting cards, flowers, or special outings.

Most shoppers will be seeking a unique gift to honor the ‘Mothers’ in their lives, which might include spouses, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, or friends. Retailers have an excellent opportunity to entice consumers with that perfect gift or keepsake and help provide a memorable and cherished moment to celebrate this important holiday. Subscriptions are another unique gift idea for Mom and a way to keep the gifts coming throughout the year.

Why One Million Women Are
Missing from the Workforce
From the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Companies of every size and industry and across every state are facing unprecedented challenges trying to find enough workers to fill open jobs. The latest data shows that we have 11.3 million job openings in the U.S., and six million unemployed workers.

One contributing factor to the ongoing worker shortage crisis is that many women have not returned to the workforce in the wake of the pandemic. In fact, there are an estimated one million women missing from the labor force compared to February 2020.

To help make sense of the impact of women leaving the labor force our Data Deep Dive: A Decline of Women in the Workforce explores the latest data on women in the workforce and the impact of childcare breakdowns.

The Modern Gentlemen
Friday, May 6, 2022, 7:00 pm
Individually, Landon Beard, Todd Fournier and brothers Brian Brigham and Brandon Brigham were originally brought together as The Four Seasons by the legendary Frankie Valli. For well over a decade, they’ve wowed audiences worldwide as the four voices alongside the rock & roll icon! During their time as the groups longest tenured singers, they developed their own identity. Valli saw something in them that he never found in any of the configurations of singers he’s worked with. Together in the studio, they finely tuned their “signature sound” to iconic Frank Sinatra hits, blending the classic sounds of yesterday with their modern style. This discovery led to a cool new take on the popular hits of Pop, Rock, Jazz and Doo Wop!
