Friday, April 29, 2022, 1:00 pm
|
|
Join us and other entrepreneurs in this hands-on workshop where you will write your “Unique Value Statement” for your new product or service. This is a concise description of your product or service and explain the unique value your product or service provides to your customers. As part of the workshop, participants will receive real-time feedback from a SCORE mentor to help them fine tune their Value Statement.
In the second part of the workshop, you will use the “Lean Canvas” to begin the process of turning your product/service into a business. In this interactive session, you use the canvas to help guide you in expanding the information in the Unique Value Statement by capturing key ideas, concepts and strategies about your business in the canvas. This creates a basic framework that you can use to complete YOUR full, detailed business plan.
Have paper, a pencil or a pen ready as the goal of this workshop is for all participants to leave with a draft of their “Unique Value Statement” and “Lean Canvas.”

Sheriff's Office in Silverdale Closes Front Desk; Patrol Operations Unchanged
|
|
Originally published in The Kitsap Sun, April 19, 2022
The front desk at the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office Silverdale station temporarily closed to the public Tuesday, but patrol operations based out of the station at 3951 Randall Way NW will not be affected.
Lt. Ken Dickinson said the sheriff's office is currently short on support staff, requiring public access to the station be shut down, but he said the office has received applications for the positions and is conducting interviews. The front desk could reopen in the coming months.
Dickinson said 90 percent of the foot traffic at the front desk was people seeking concealed pistol licenses. For new licenses, applicants will have to go to the main sheriff’s office in Port Orchard. For those who have licenses that are about to expire, residents can renew them online.

Masks No Longer Required on Kitsap Transit
|
|
Last Monday evening the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) issued a statement rescinding its face-mask requirement on public transportation, after a federal judge struck down the national mask mandate on airplanes and mass transit. As a result, face masks are now optional on Kitsap Transit services and in our facilities.
While masks are no longer required, Kitsap Transit continues to support safety on its services by:
- Providing masks for free on buses and ferries to riders who want to use them
- Purifying the air on our buses and ferries with ultraviolet (UV) light air cleaners
- Disinfecting our buses and ferries daily
- Encouraging customers to pay with an ORCA card instead of cash
Kitsap Transit will no longer accept applications for mask exemptions. We are working to remove “masks required” signage throughout our system as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.
