Addressing the Racial Wealth Gap Across Greater Boston with Jonathan Davis and JC Burton |
November 7 | 7:00 p.m.
Boston has been ranked America's #1 most unequal city, according to a 2016 Brookings Institute report. The Boston Globe reported that the household median net worth for whites was $247,500 and just $8 for blacks. At Temple Israel, we believe that we can access our own personal economic power to address this structural inequity.
Please join the economic justice initiative and impact investing initiatives at Temple Israel for a conversation with JC Burton, Founder of Maven Construction and Jonathan Davis, Temple member and investor, as they share their personal stories. JC Burton will share about her path to founding Maven Construction and her challenges to securing funding while Jon Davis will share his motivations to leverage his capital to make systemic change in Boston and beyond.
The conversation will be moderated by Mark Watson of the Boston Impact Initiative (BII).
Come learn from Davis and Burton about how you can also begin to address the structural inequality. RVSP to
Tali Puterman.

Climate and Intersectionality |
November 14 | 6:30 p.m.
Jewish tradition is clear that we have a social responsibility to all those who are vulnerable and in need. In the face of the current devastation of the planet and the climate, and the serious and deleterious effect on all already existing social issues and questions of justice, it is clear that we need to join these two ancient Jewish values together. Hear a panel of speakers focus on the relationship between the climate and three pressing issues--immigration and labor rights.
