Toys For Tots On Cooper River Marks 15th Year
December 3rd marked the 15th annual Toys for Tots on the Cooper River Bass Tournament. This year the event staff collected 415 toys, 28 bikes and $4105.00 in cash for Toys for Tots. In the 15 years the event has taken place they have collected 4500 toys, 375 bicycles and $45,000.00 in cash. The Marines use the cash to purchase toys for the gender or age that they are lacking toys for. This year the event was supported by 20 local and corporate sponsors from the lowcountry of SC. Some sponsors donate cash while others donate items used in the raffle. The three major sponsors of the yearly event are: Berkeley Outdoors, Marshalls Marine, and McElveen GMC Buick. The director of the tournament Sean McElhaney looks forward to the event every year. "When we started this event we decided to do Toys for Tots because there are many underprivileged children that would not see a gift for Christmas and it is supported by the Marines. We have about 18 retired Marines from North Carolina, New Jersey and Pennsylvania that come and help us as well as Ferris Jennings and Fred Cruise." said McElhaney. A total of 77 teams competed in this year's event with each member of those teams donating an unwrapped toy for the cause.

Lend A Helping Hand To A Fellow Angler
In a recent post on his social media accounts Bass Pro Tour angler Josh Bertrand requested your help. "A friend and long time member of the Arizona tournament fishing community, Rob Smook suffered a terrible accident on Christmas Eve. He fell off his roof and broke all of his ribs along with his back. His family has set up a Go Fund Me which can be found linked below.
To help raise money for Rob and his family to reach their insurance deductible and cover any other expenses headed their way I’m raffling off a full day guided fishing trip. The trip will be 8 hours and includes lunch and all fishing gear/tackle. The winner can bring an additional person in the trip if they’d like to. Tickets are $50 each and there will be one winner. To enter the raffle and have a chance to win comment below and message me for payment. I’ll be taking entry’s through Venmo and Zelle. 100% of the entries will be transferred directly to Rob and his family. The trip can be redeemed in 2023 during the summer break between BPT events or in the fall after the BPT season concludes. Travel expenses will not be included. Thanks much and please share this post. It’ll be a long recovery for Rob but it’s great to see the fishing community rally behind him. He’s a great guy and I’m looking forward to seeing him back on the water before too long. The winner will be announced Friday, December 30th." Release Me Trailer Brake Release
Many bass boat trailers are equipped with surge brakes, and when you have electrical or solenoid problems the brakes won't release when backing up at times. Also, when you try to use the factory key that comes with the trailer, it often just keeps falling out, or you must use electrical tape to hold it on. Trying to have someone hold the key in place while the trailer and/or vehicle are in motion is also not a safe alternative.
With the Seacured Fishing HD "Release ME" Trailer Brake Release, these problems are over. No nasty tape or having to try and ask someone to hold the factory key from falling out. Back up on any grade, maneuver into any spot, without locking up your trailer brakes. This key is heavy-duty made of solid steel and comes with heavy-duty green coated cable for easy removal and a strong connection to the trailer. When not in use the Seacured Fishing HD "Release ME" Trailer Brake Release just attaches to the side of the trailer tongue and it's ready at a moment’s notice. Check it out here.

Switch Up Your Line Size When Cranking
For touring pro Mike McClelland, cranking rocky sections of shoreline in the Ozarks is second nature. McClelland, who has amassed 8 tour level victories during his career, can attribute many of those victories to that specific technique, which is near and dear to his heart. McClelland’s go-to bait when approaching rocky cover is the SPRO RkCrawler 55. It’s no surprise that when McClelland designed this bait he had cranking rock in mind, and thus focused on making sure the bait embarked a wide, wobbling, hunting action, that is perfect for digging down and deflecting off rock. Although the bait is a huge part of the equation, McClelland insists that the type of line and its size is equally important to having success with this technique. “Any time I am approaching a bank I am going to crank with a RkCrawler I am going to have it tied on with at least three different pound tests of Sunline Crank FC. The reason I do that is that I am then able to approach that particular stretch of bank at totally different depths and angles” said McClleland. “Simply switching from 10 to 12, or 14 pound test line on the same bait allows me to change the depth, and in some ways the action of the bait depending on what I am trying to achieve. Giving myself those options of various depths and actions with the same bait allows me to catch fish I may not have otherwise on the same bait. Changing the pound test line I am using on the RkCrawler has allowed me to catch fish in the same areas I had already fished through on numerous occasions” McClelland said. With the release of Sunline Crank FC the guesswork has been taken out of choosing which fluorocarbon to use for cranking. “Crank FC by Sunline is really the deal. It has the perfect amount of stretch you want in a cranking line, and the handling, performance, and casting distance is phenomenal. It is by far the best line I have ever spooled up for throwing a crankbait, and I’ve used them all” concluded McClelland.
