Citizens of the Month
January 2019 February 2019
Congratulations to our Citizens of the Month! Each month Sinking Springs recognizes learners from each grade level that take pride in displaying the characteristics of SPIRIT every day! Thank you citizens for helping to make
Springs The Greatest School in ALL the Land!
On February 8th Sinclaire Kraut, 6th grade student from Sinking Springs, was honored at a banquet in East Berlin as the 3rd place winner of the VFW and Auxiliary Patriot's Pen Essay Contest for District 21, which includes York, Franklin and Adams Counties.
Mr. Ben Otterson was also honored that evening as the District 21 Teacher of the Year for the Elementary Level. He received this honor for teaching patriotism in his classroom every day.
On February 20th, 3 Sinking Springs students were honored as finalists at the Mt. Wolf VFW and Auxiliary meeting for their participation in the Patriot's Pen Essay Contest. These three young ladies combined earned over $700 in scholarships by taking part in this writing contest!

Our Art Show this year will be on Thursday, March 12 starting at 4:00 and ending at 7:30.
This event coincides with one of our parent conference evenings. As we have done in recent years, we will be using the company Artome. If you choose, you may purchase the framed art ($25), however, there is no obligation and all of your child's artwork will be sent home at the end of the school year (unframed but still beautiful.)
Spread the Word: Inclusion
On March 4th people around the world will take action for inclusion. Special Olympics Spread the Word to End the Word campaign has been working to spread respect and inclusion for the past 11 years. The campaign's new form - Spread the Word: Inclusion - builds on this campaign by continuing to challenge everyone to commit to respect and to include. We are calling on all people to pledge to include.
World Down Syndrome Day
World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), 21 March, is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the 3rd month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. Join in with us to create a single global voice for advocating for the rights, inclusion and well-being of people with Down syndrome on 21 March. How can you help? By wearing LOTS OF SOCKS! Make sure you use the hashtags #LotsOfSocks, #WorldDownSyndromeDay and #WDSD20
Flexible Instruction Days
Our teachers have already been planning just in case we need to use our FIDS (Flexible Instruction Days). Here is a link to details and information about FIDs found on our district website:
