Partners in Community Development
Sioux Valley Energy is dedicated to helping our members, local businesses, and area communities grow and prosper. This month, we look at opportunities through the Rural Electric Economic Development Fund (REED Fund) as well as the Federal REAP program. The REAP program provides financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements. In the latest episode of our Inside the Grid podcast, we talk with representatives from the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance and the REED Fund.

If you have suggestions for future issues or wish to discuss your operation’s current and future energy needs, please contact me at jay.buchholz@siouxvalleyenergy.com or call my cell phone at 605-940-2053.

REAP Funding Available for Ag Producers, Rural Small Businesses
The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) helps increase American energy independence by increasing the private sector supply of renewable energy and decreasing the demand for energy through energy efficiency improvements. Over time, these investments can also help lower the cost of energy for small businesses and agricultural producers.

REAP Renewable Energy Systems & Energy Efficiency Improvement Guaranteed Loans and Grants provide guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements. Agricultural producers may also apply for new energy efficient equipment and new system loans for agricultural production and processing.

Applications for Grants of $20,000 or Less and Loan/Grant of $20,000 or Less Combo Applications are due by Nov. 1, 2021, or March 31, 2022. Applications for Unrestricted Grants or Loan/Unrestricted Grant Combo Applications are due by March 31, 2022.
