Celebrating 50 Years of Sister Carmen Community Center

Earlier this month, we hosted a "Legacy of Love: Our Story So Far" donor and volunteer appreciation luncheon in anticipation of our 50th Anniversary on October 25th of this year. Having nearly 200 of our community's most dedicated supporters in one room was truly a gift—we only wish we had more space in our warehouse to accommodate ALL of our supporters!

In case you missed it, or if you'd like to learn more about how Sister Carmen Community Center came to be, please watch the video above, which we showed during the event. We also had two presenters—Ken Gardner, former board member and Comptroller, and our current CEO Suzanne Crawford—who shared their reflections on Sister Carmen's journey so far. Their words beautifully captured the spirit of SCCC we've built together over the past 50 years.

For everything you've personally done to support our mission of caring for our neighbors during the past 50 years, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Here's to another 50 years of love, support, and community!

Shout-out to Summit Middle

What can 107 middle school students do in one morning at SCCC? A heck of a lot of good! We were delighted to host this enthusiastic group of volunteers from BVSD's Summit Middle Charter School earlier this month.

They got right to work in our garden and food bank, and also helped with administrative tasks, creative projects, and grounds maintenance. Thanks to all the students, teachers, administrators, parents, and volunteers who helped make this day a success!

Zumba with Jose

Tuesdays at 5pm. Enter through the sunflower door on the south side of the building by the garden. All are welcome!

Kundalini Yoga with Harpiar is on hiatus until further notice.

Front Range Funny Festival

We're thrilled to announce that, once again this year, the organizers and performers of the 2026 Front Range Funny Festival have selected Sister Carmen Community Center as the beneficiary of this event. There are three performances scheduled around town at 7pm this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. More information and tickets below. Get ready to laugh for a good cause! Thank you!

We also need volunteers to help sort food here or at the Lafayette and Louisville post offices. If you or someone you know—perhaps a student in need of service hours—is looking for a one-day volunteer opportunity, please sign up here, or email Hope, our volunteer manager, with any questions. Thank you!
