Help Preserve Her Legacy

If you knew Sister Carmen, Sister Mary Loretta, the Fiorinis, or any of the folks from the early days at SCCC, we want to hear from you! Share a story or memory with us. From funny anecdotes to tales of their impact, all kind comments are welcome.

As we approach our 50th year serving the community, we want to reflect on where we began and how far we’ve come—and honor the legacy of the woman who inspired us all to care for our neighbors.

Email therese@sistercarmen.org with your memories. If we have enough responses, we may reach out to record a video of your reflections. Thank you!

35 Mile Foundation Helps Us Bridge the Digital Divide

The 35 Mile Foundation, a nonprofit that powers social justice through digital equity, has been a staunch supporter of our digital literacy programs. As government funding for such programs has been reduced or eliminated, their support is more important than ever. Their article, Digital Equity in Affluent America: The Hidden Face of the Digital Divide, highlights the divide that exists in Boulder and why they invest in our Bridging Digital Divides program:

"The digital equity work we support at the Sister Carmen Community Center represents just one piece of their comprehensive approach to family support. But in an age where nearly every aspect of modern life requires digital access and fluency, we think it’s among their most critical services."

Learn more about our Bridging Digital Divides program here. New classes start in February. One-on-one tech support is available from Yameli, our Digital Navigator, by appointment.

Helping Find Affordable Housing

The Boulder County Family Resource Network is celebrating the first anniversary of its Community-Wide Available Rentals website, which helps residents search for affordable rental housing across Boulder County.

The site received more than 11,000 visits in its first year, and the project earned a 2025 Community Impact Award. More than 300 active rental listings are available across Boulder, Longmont, Lafayette, Louisville, Niwot, Superior, Erie, and mountain communities.

We are proud to be part of the Family Resource Network and to collaborate with some of its membersBoulder County Human Services, Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA), and OUR Centeron this vital community resource! Special shoutout to our Advocate, Colin, for playing an integral role in the creation and maintenance of this site.
